Received this offer from Lenovo today. First of all it's telesales only, i.e. you have to either (1) call up (1300 557 073) or (2) use the online chat to get the offer, rather than using their ecommerce site.

ThinkPad E560 Laptop

Currently $799 on promotion, and $749 when you call up. You cannot change the existing configuration, but with ThinkPad's it's not difficult to change the RAM and HDD yourself — except the screen is 15.6" 1366x768 only and cannot be changed.

  • Core i5-6200U
  • Windows 10 Home 64
  • 15.6" HD (1366x768)
  • 8GB RAM
  • 256GB SSD
  • DVD Recordable

ThinkPad P50s

P-series is the "Mobile Workstation" equipped with NVIDIA Quadro graphics — not that useful for gaming but okay with CAD or crypto programming. P50s is the slim version of the workstation with under-clocked / under-voltage i5-6300U CPU. RRP is $2599, but you can get one for 50% off at $1299 when you call up. Also note that it can be configured to 3k (2880x1620) screen for $200 more — also ask Lenovo for a discount on that.

  • Core i5-6300U
  • Windows 10 Home 64
  • 15.6" FHD IPS (1920x1080)
  • 8GB RAM
  • 500GB 7200RPM HDD
  • NVIDIA Quadro M500M 2GB
  • 2.25kg

E560 is the runout model as Kaby Lake powered E570 is already on the market. P50s was released in March this year, and Lenovo's new P/T/X series might get announced in CES in Jan 2017 & maybe Q2 release.

  • shame it isnt a 1920x1080 screen

  • +1

    15.6" and 1366x768….what a PITA!

    • I believe the correct acronym is POS.

    • Yeah not sure why companies are still making them when $200 10"/11" tablets all have full HD screen.

  • and Win 10 Home for what are essentially business laptops… what are they thinking…

    • It's the cheapest option so you can buy them, wipe the hard drive and install Ubuntu or ArchLinux on it. Unfortunately Microsoft tax is still inevitable.

      • I wish they would at least give the option to upgrade to win10… they charge about $100 but MS charge about $150…
The Dell 15 5000 deal today comes with similar specs and win10 pro, dedicated graphics, touch and FHD as well is the better deal for me personally at $959 - but thats just me.

        • Yes I agree that Inspiron 15 at that price is a better deal than E560. Newer model as well.

  • Thanks OP, any deal with ThinkPad P50 or T460P?

    • I might ask if there's more interest in the performance / workstation models.
