  • So day 3 is just these speakers? What a bummer! I was expecting cameras.

Also, did they change the time when the sale goes up? I thought it said from 12pm each day during the 12 days of Christmas sales.

    Nothing useful after day 3.

    • -1

Where is your tv that you promised us, hahaha

  • not enough research OP, wrong prices.

    • Have updated now. Not sure why people keep stuffing up the prices.

      • Mod, it might also be good idea to mention the sale starts at noon in the title, or there will be countless comments that the price is wrong etc.

        • Done.

        • +1

@neil: Sorry, just realized you already mentioned that in the title. Ta

  • This or the JBL ones on sale?

  • The 5 speakers are pretty small , 4x6 inches, the size of a small photo, were they really worth $379?
I am after a good ( but cheap) Bluetooth speaker but I can't see $159 of value in them.

    • The ZR5 speakers have bluetooth AND wifi. It's not a basic bluetooth speaker but if you have no need for wifi (or something like spotify connect) this would most likely be a waste.

      • But they are also a very small speaker, not just the tech side of things, do they sound like $300 speakers seeing they are not much bigger than a large coffee mug.

    • you may have a look at Philips BT100, quite good and cheap when it on sale.

I got mine from Dick Smith for around $25.

Tempted by the x99 that's usually $999 for 399 massive saving, anyone got it and like/dislike it?

    • Not bad for 399 shipped.

      • Yeh I just ordered one! Not in Aus from tomorrow until mid Jan so may be an issue signing with delivery, anyone have experience with this?

        • You miss out the TRS

        • @John Kelvin: oh damn didn't even think of that! Also reading more about the speaker seems there's no inbuilt battery? If so bit of a deal breaker as I use the battery on my SRSX55 loads

  • I played with the previous gen x9, This one It has seven speakers include two horns, wifi bt supported, the weakest link: audio heads tell you the bass not strong enough… Else I can't tell the difference :) main channel charity is great as it claim to be an hd music box, for 399, I said right price, I wouldn't pay the full price for it, I got a gigantic shake77 for less than the full price via Costco

Just a heads up that the Sony online checkout system seems to be flawed.

I've just placed an order for one of the day 3 specials - Wireless Speaker with Wi-Fi/Bluetooth (RRP $999) - and evidently the deal has expired during my checkout process. I had the "confirm order" page in front of me, displaying a price of $399.60, clicked confirm, and was very unpleasantly surprised to be taken to the "Thank You For Your Order" screen where I'd been charged the full $999 (and the resulting email from PayPal confirms the $999 charge).

I've just checked and found out the deals expire at 12pm each day - fair enough that they're time limited - but ffs who builds a web store that asks you to confirm one price, and then changes it in the mean time - at least show me un updated screen informing me of the changed price and asking me to confirm the order again. It's just sloppy programming on behalf of the store developer.

I've just contacted them via the "Contact Page" on the website asking for the price to be adjusted or the order cancelled, so hopefully it's fixed one way or the other.

If anyone is ordering towards the middle of the day, just be aware of this potential issue - finalise your order before it ticks over to midday AEDST or be prepared for a surprise!

    • are you a sony x member?

      • Don't even know what that is. Should it make a difference?

        • The special prices are for members and you'll get them when you're logged in. Also, doesn't Paypal show you the price you're paying before you have to confirm payment?

        • @nanoronline: I signed up to whatever I had to in order to access the special price and was logged in at the time I placed the order. Yes, PayPal showed $399.60, then took me back to the Sony page which also showed the same amount, and asked for confirmation from me to proceed with the order.

        • @dm01: this has happened to me on a number of websites where vouchers expired during the paypal payment process. Wouldn't say it's specifically a Sony eCommerce failure, most likely the way paypal processes payments when discount vouchers expire.

    • Same exact thing happened to me, price was $399 once i was logged in, got it into the cart. went to order, paypal went through (one click so did not show price). Webpage said order confirmed. Then after 20-30 mins i got no confirmation email, so i checked the orders in my account there was nothing, so i checked paypal and no money had been deducted. And when i checked the confirmation page (which was still open) somehow it had dumped me to sony New Zealand.

So i went to place the order a second time, and $999, no discount.

This is really annoying for me because i've wanted a x99 for ages but i could never justify the price so i scan for good deals on them weekly. I have the x77 and x88 already (which i got in various sales) and they are fantastic.

I'll give their customer support a call monday morning, hopefully they can make this right.

I got an email a couple of hours later:

        Order placed: 04/12/2016

Unfortunately we're unable to process your order at this time.

        Regards,

        Your Sony Online Team

They didn't process the PayPal payment, so at least I don't have to worry about that.

Looks like I miss out! :(

        • I'll give them a call tomorrow AM and see if they are willing to make things right or not, i'll let you know how I go.

        • @rolin7:

          Cheers, thanks!

        • +1

Ok, so i called them up and apparently they only had a certain amount of units that they were willing to sell at that price, and once that number had been reached they reverted to the RRP.

And they think we must have ordered when they still had them, but they ran out during the shopping cart process.

pretty weak if you ask me

        • @rolin7: Weak indeed. Thanks for checking that out!
