Similar to the last deal, but these are the closed-back variant.
Not sure if this is better or worse. Any audiofiles have an idea?

They are much closer to the HD569 (same drivers) than the normal HD598. Whether it's good or bad depends on your usage, but sound quality is probably a bit worse overall.

They're 'different' rather then better or worse. You wouldn't use the original 598 out and about but these are seemingly aimed at the mobile user - closed-back so sound doesn't leak (don't be 'that guy' on the train) and lower impedance so they can reach good volumes even if powered by your smartphone.

No firsthand experience as mine haven't arrived from the previous US deal yet, but at the price I'd say these are probably worth a punt if you want decent quality over ears for portable use or at work so you don't disturb neighbours.

  To be fair though, I've found that most people have their music up so loud that there is sound leak on closed back headphones…
