Where can I get a bunch of cheap USB memory sticks?

Anyone know where I can get cheap USB memory sticks? Only needs to have 4GB at a minimum
My partner needs about 50 to put a video on for her graduating year 6 students.
I've seen OfficeWorks sell $4 Toshiba ones, however hoping their is somewhere slightly cheaper (primary school budgets are ridiculously low!).

I know I can go to eBay and buy $1 sticks, but I'm assuming these are crap and will have a high failure rate/break within weeks.

Thanks

  • Know I'm going old school, but what about DVD?

Almost every computer has some kind of USB port. Can you say the same thing for DVD readers?

      • Its a video so why does it have to be played on a computer. Im sure 99% of people have some way to play a dvd

      • I don't disagree, but it's 50 of them they're after. If $4 is the cheapest they can do, that's $200.

I'm sure the parents would have access to a computer with a DVD drive (be it an older one at home, or one at work).

    • Haha thanks for the suggestion.. but I don't even have a DVD writer myself anymore!

      • I think still cheaper to buy a dvd burner and 50x blank dvds than $200 :)

        ASUS SDRW-08D2S-ULB External DVD Writer Black/USB2.0/Power $30
        50" Xcopy DVD-R Printable $11.00

        plus time :)

  • Do NOT buy the cheapest option. My cheap Harvey Norman Toshiba el cheapos aren't worth the buck or whatever they cost. File system corruption city.

You could consider an SD card reader and SD cards for better physical storage. I would stick to Sandisk or Samsung and Amazon US.

Ozbargain option is stick the video on youtube for free.

  • I would say $4 for a brand usb stick is the best you're going to get. As you said the eBay option is not reliable.

What about this odd option, mini CD-R's at $23 for 50 - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/50-Pack-Blank-CD-R-215MB-32X-8cm-…

    • 215mb capacity… OP needs 4gb min

  • Go in and talk to the manager at OW, they probably may be able to take a little off the sticker price, any discount would help i guess..

Also go and see if you can find any multi pack USBs for sale that works out to be cheaper than $4 ea

  • Aliexpress + Cashrewards?

    10% deal ends today!

    • don't buy usb sticks from aliexpress. I have made 500+ orders with aliexpress but would never buy USB sticks from any seller there. the risk of fake or crap sticks is too high. even the cost of the legitimate ones is pretty bad compared to Aus sellers.

Upload it somewhere and give them a link so they can download it at home.

    YouTube it.

  • I was looking to buy some USB sticks (10 or so) and thought eBay would be the go.

I couldn't really find a deal cheaper than Officeworks. In most cases, when you actually made a selection it was dearer and not really worth getting a dud.

Can anyone point to better eBay deal?

  • Doesnt your school have some kind of partnership for this kind of stuff ? You should be able to get wholesale prices this way. Maybe talk to australia post, and say its for a school, or try to find some other program geared towards kids education.

    • Problem is the wholesale price they get may still be more than Officeworks.
