  • can it be unlocked for free?

    • Correct me if I'm wrong.. I don't think any iPhone has been locked to a network since iPhone 3 or 4.

      • It's locked…
Aldi is using Telstra network and Aldi sim won't work either…

It's free to unlock. Give either Telstra or Apple a call and they'll do it for you over the phone

@cpho: Not sure if this is out of date, but the below link shows there is a fee if you haven't had the phone for a certain period for prepaid phones. Probably worth asking if you are buying the deal to make sure one way or the other.

          https://www.telstra.com.au/support/category/mobiles-tablets/…

"Telstra Pre-Paid mobiles (including iPhone) and mobile broadband devices are locked for use only on Telstra's network. There is a fee to have your Pre-Paid mobile phone unlocked.

          • $80 for devices activated for 6 months or less, or never activated; and

          • $25 for devices activated for more than 6 months up to 2 years.

There is no unlocking fee after that."

        • i honestly thought the same as creative8s until i saw this. network-lock is so old-school. should have been dumped a long time ago!

        • @cache:
They will continue to lock Prepaid devices as that way they can subsidise the cost to sell them cheaper.

        • @try2bhelpful:
          Only some older phones.
All iphones after iOS7 should already be network unlocked. If not, then Apple will do it for free.

        • @cpho: I would still ask Telstra before actually buying. If they are subsidising pre-paid phones then they may still have an unlocking fee.

    • If it helps you can unlock with pre-paid credit.
I did this recently with Telstra using credit from a different pre-paid number.
Both were under the same account, not sure if that matters.

1st time I had used my pre-paid credit (iOS user)

      • Sorry just saw.

  • can we buy online?

  • Big W have same phone but with $30 optus credit, not sure if it's network locked. sale starts 8th dec ends 14th dec

    • Big W one is locked
Needs 6 recharges of $20 plus for free unlcoking otherwise its $150

If your absolute limit is 100% iOS, $369 and you must have Telstra, this is a good deal but I'd suggest scrimping a little more and getting an SE. Can be had for ~$180 more and local stock here: http://www.phonebot.com.au/Apple-iPhone-SE-16GB-Space-Gray%2…

It's been this price for awhile, well at Telstra at least. Delivered free

  • Does Apple price match? I'd like to get an SE on the Velocity 4 pts per $1. :)

    • Ha! Doubt it.

    • I've never had an issue getting Apple to price match in store… Never tried online though.

  • Does that old offer (Tuesdays 10% off Only from 5pm; Telstra online) - still work?

  • Will BOOST mobile sim work on these?

  • @JB Hi-Fi now as well. But without the SIM.

  • Would officework beat it? Does anyone know? Thanks

  • Would it be eligible for the TRS?

    • +1

      Yes

      • Thanks - saw your reply after actually trying it out at the TRS counter - was glad it got through!
