  • Sony's ZX110 was not the deal of the day but probably a part of their Christmas sale.

    They look like on-ear …

  • They do look like on-ear. The Sony website say 'ZX110 Entry Overhead Headphones' while Harvey Norman call them 'Sony ZX110 Over-Ear Headphone'

  • I have a pair and they're definitely on ear.

    • How you liking them?

      • I got them to keep beside my bed mostly just to listen to podcasts on. They do an alright job for what I paid ($14 with The Good Guy's $25 off voucher the other month). They're surprisingly comfortable. As far as music goes they're cheap headphones, really. They have a lot of bass but everything else gets a bit muddled. Being on ear you don't get much of a seal and it feels like you lose a fair chunk of quality to it. They're not bad for $14 (or even $24) though.

        • I've only owned one pair of on-ears. The pads get warm very fast and become uncomfortable.

          Is this your experience also?

        • @lostn: Oh god, the first thing I noticed when I got them was how warm they get. It was kinda nice when it was cooler, but the past couple of weeks it's been a bit unpleasant.

        • @Benno123: That's why I avoid all on-ears.

The noise isolation being inferior doesn't help either, and neither does the increased clamping force.

They simply don't remain comfortable for too long. It's a trap to test them out for 1 minute at HN/JB and conclude that, yeah they're pretty comfortable, I'll buy one. If they can't be used for long periods, they are useless.
