No links for Syd to LA?

Be interesting to see if VA / QF respond in the next couple of days… I prefer the direct connection (ex BNE) and the status credits + miles.

Why would va respond to nz?

      • I'm sure most people would pay a few bucks more not to have to transit via AKL, also most are more likely to have QFF/VFF membership.

Wasn't that bad when I went. Got in to the airport, had a beer and got on the plane. There wasn't much time wasted.

Really tempted to go in June…
Wonder what Trump's USA will be like after 6 months or so

    • Much the same for us Aussie tourists I imagine. Unless you're a Mexican Aussie? Though they'll need to replace Obama's welcome message at the airport immigration queues. Maybe get SNL to do one.

Great prices. For those interested, E3 is on in LA in June, I've attended the past 3 years. Always fly AirNZ and this is around the best pricing you'll get. 2014 I managed to pay $823 but 2015 and 2016 were around $850-900.

EDIT: From MEL that is, not sure about other states.

How much do the E3 tickets run up to? How much did you end up spending for the whole trip? I've heard cost of living in the US can be high in certain cities.

Tickets are free for Media passes. If you have a friend that has a website/magazine/pretty much anything, have them write you a letter saying you're a writer/journalist and you'll be approved. I have friends in LA so have stayed with them the past few years, though in 2014 I used AirBnB and it wasn't much, like $50-80 a night. Foods cheap, Doubles at In N Out are $3.60. I always hire a car too, that's obviously optional though. Public transport is about $2 on the bus in LA unless you're going pretty far (Airport transfers are probably more).

        • Doubles at In N Out are $3.60.

          hopefully Animal style ;)

There's also a few seats left for 850 return from Melbourne on the 20th January for anyone who needs to travel sooner

  • 17 july - 14 Aug with qantas Mel to LAX is $932 which works out cheaper with the Amex deal.
