Flymo Electric Hedge Trimmer @ Bunnings Warehouse, $49 down from $109

80

I bought one of these a couple of years ago - full price - and found it to handle all my hedges easily. It was a lot better than the Ozito (??I think) that I had before. The cheapie struggled with all but the thin stuff and vibrated badly. Not as good as a Stihl, but not the same price either.

NOT cordless BTW.

With that price drop I am guessing Bunnings are running these out so they probably won't last long.

Bunnings blurb:
This Flymo 500W powerful electric hedge trimmer includes extended reach and double cutting blades for a neat finish.

Double cutting blades - Diamond ground, double-action cutting blades that deliver sharp, neat cut and superior finish
Blade Brake - Features a safety blade brake that stops the blades in 0.5 seconds for optimal safety
Central Handle - Unique central handle design provides the user with a comfortable and safer working position
Blade Guard - Transparent guard for increased safety and visibility. Light weight design ensures easy manoeuvrability and reduces operator fatigue
Belt Clip - Spiral, self-retracting cable features a convenient belt clip, which ensures the cable is kept away from the cutting blade

  • Flymo is a part of Husqvarna so should be decent!

  • +1

Just an FYI. Avoid the Bosch versions of these, they are rubbish.
The $15 Black and Decker from Big W earlier in the year is far superior.

    • Superior than which? Bosch/flymo

      • Sorry, superior to the Bosch. However, the Flymo has the same teeth style as the Bosch (small gaps, pointy shape).
I have found the round teeth / large gap machines to be better (for cutting a hedge). If it's a simple diosma, then anything will do.

This is pretty much the $15 unit that was offered from Big W. Previous to that I had a GMC I paid $30 for that lasted 9 years (the 2 Bosch units I tried never got started, they couldn't cut through it).

That being said, $49 is a pretty good price, and if it isn't fit for it's purpose (like the Bosch), just return it.

  • NOTE: Not for personal trimming use (wish they had have said that on the packaging I've gone through a fortune in bandaids)

  • Better get a bulk power-cord splicing kit to go with this.
After a few incidents, I got a cordless model.

  • Thanks, picked one up from Thornleigh, they have like 8 left.
Also picked up a XU1 Blower VAC 240V for $35. They have the Flymo Twister 2200XV Electric (Corded) Blower Vac for $49
