So mad Monday deals cycle every 30 mins?

Oh. Guess I'm out then. I gotta work that day.

    • It's only specific deals

  • -1

xb1 elite controller is usually $169 on ebay.

  • the new white xbox controllers are $74 at target and $89 at JB hifi …… why do these deals during working hours and on-line only ……. wonder if there will be delivery costs ?

    • I doubt it will be free shipping. But there might be a local pick up option.

      • I bought two. The first would have cost $5 to be delivered, but when I added the second the delivery changed to $8.50 which i'm more than happy with.

    • -1

Because their target Audience will be in school and have access to the internet?

      • +1

I don't think I was able to afford $169 controllers when I was in school. How the world has changed.

        • Sadly, this is true :(

    • Regardless of when you do these sorts of things, someone will be working. Also online only is far better in my opinion. Staggered time based sales in physical stores inevitably means you need to line up for an hour ahead of time and if you want multiple items you need to stay in the store half the day. Online lets you pop on at one or two minutes to the hour to try your luck. If they were in store then the sale would be running during most people's work hours anyway so you have the same schedule problem.

MYER Brisbane would do these sorts of sales on Boxing Day and it resulted in an unruley mob who would bicker over line placement, and often there would end up being multiple lines in different areas if the store and arguments over who was in the right place. Boxing Day is bad enough but these sales were always much worse.

It'll depend on the job of course, but as an office worker if I wanted to I'd generally have no issue quickly checking for a minute if something I want had gone up on the hour. If IT policy is strict you can use a phone.

Note that I hate staggered sales, but if you're going to do them then keep it online. Also I think they run through the evening anyway, from memory the Pokemon game goes up around 7PM.

      • Regardless of when you do these sorts of things, someone will be working.

Someone will. It's a question of how many, and whether you choose to cut out the minority or majority of people based on your timing.

I don't have a grudge against them for choosing business hours. That's their choice. I also don't argue that in store is better than on-line only. (For someone at work, it would be even harder to go in store. Ideally, both would be good.)

But I don't accept the argument that after hours is no better an option because evening shift workers would miss out. There are significantly more business hours workers than evening shift hours workers.

        • As above, the sales also running out of hours (last offer is 7PM). I'd also assume a lot of buisness workers would have access to a computer or mobile device and be able to pop on anyway.

        • @Smigit: I'm not a business worker, but sure.

My commute does take me long enough that I might miss the 7PM deal depending on traffic. I don't really care though.

My issue is more with the half-hourly rotating deals. Some people cam still access these from work, but no employer is going to want their staff to be doing things instead of working.

As long as they have deals that aren't timed and run the whole day, there's not much to complain about.

Also, I really hate shopping on the smartphone. Especially mobile sites.

        • @lostn: Fortunately the vast majority of the deals won't be timed.

Frankly, these sorts of promos always seem to be a disaster to me due to stock selling out within the minute and/or the servers not being able to cope. Not sure why they persist to be honest. Time and time again retailers seem to be unable to manage the spike these promotions cause.

beware of shitty ebgame.. this happened to me numerous times already. Advertised as "Brand new" game, when it arrived, it came without a proper casing, and without a cover art. basically, it is not brand new per se from the look of it. I have no idea why on earth Ebgame is still allowed to operate in such a manner at Australia

    • +1

I was also sold unsealed Games many many times by ebgames because apparently they were out of the sealed ones. Although they always promise that the game is still brand new but opened for display purposes. It's hard to know but I miss the days that playstation Games had proper trademarked factory seals.

I still buy from them because they are the closest store and they price match for me anyway (unless it's a bad day)

      • +5

Becausr they are just reselling the games people have rent out for 7 days. Even worse now because their return policy is extended for Christmas. They consider it still new even if someone plays the crap out of it

    • -5

I have never had an issue or been sold a game without the normal book/artwork with any game.
EB Games would have to be one of the top tier sellers of console games and hardware IMHO as its all local with great return/support available.

They arnt cheap but they price match and you can always ask for a sealed game if they arnt all opened for display reasons,

      • +2

That's going to be difficult with the thousands and thousands of games opened for "display reasons" but I suppose miracles may occur!

    • +1

have you tried going in store and making a scene? i've done it and got an exchange for a sealed one :)

    • Some game I only play once or twice then trade in for other games, they looks like new, I think they may just sell as new one for more money.

    • I bought a "brandnew" 3ds xl fate plate edition last June, when i got home and opened the box and i found it didn't have plastic bag which used to cover the console. While my Majora Mask and Yellow 2ds version have them. So I complained about that and they said some time nintendo come without any protection inside and refused to exchange it.
      Good job EB

Ebgames so called deals are rubbish, their 50% off means reAl world price.

  • +3

am not sure why my post received negative votes? Voted by EB troppers possiby? This is why EbGame continue to strive over here. bad business operator should not be supported and protected. Consumers have to right to receiving what has been advertised by retailer

    • -7

      Lol couldnt resist negging this.

  • Are the $62 controllers the new new ones with bluetooth ?

  • Reminder: Deal are for Level 4 members only!

    • +6

It's not. It's just a heads up but pointless now anyway since OP already shared the level 4 exclusive news.

  • Those controllers are the best thing apart from dishonored 2 in the sale.
    hope the site doesnt crash.

    • +1

I hope shipping doesn't kill the deal

      • +1

        that's a given.

      • $5 shipping so $67 delivered.

I bought a black one just then aswell as dishonored 2 limited edition for ps4

  • +1

    BRACE YOURSELVES FOR INSANE…DISAPPOINTMENT!

Even more pitiful 'specials' from the biggest rip off retailer.

  • They are cheats.
XBOX one controller for $70 but add a delivery charge of $9. Boom !!!
I might as well buy at $1 cheaper price from Target.

I'm sure that this 30 minutes window will be really chaotic for genuine people to buy.

    • $9? the delivered cost for me was $5 so $67 delivered for the standard xbox one s controllers.

  • $5 for delivery made it worthwhile.

    • $5.00 here too. But I ended up skipping it. Not sure how good EBs delivery is and we wont be here next week. Dont want the controller sitting on my doorstep .
