Any discounts for USG-PRO-4 and US-24-250W?

  • What does this thing actually do?

    • Security and routing, ties in to the UniFi Controller software that manages the access points.
So, a one-stop interface for managing your WiFi and network security I guess.

      • Okay, what does that mean (security and routing can mean anything)? I tried to search for a manual for this but could only find (what looked to be) very different devices.

it's basically a router and firewall, administered via the Unifi system. see here: https://dl.ubnt.com/datasheets/unifi/UniFi_Security_Gateway_…

      • Okay, cool thanks- seems like there's a whole Ubiquiti ecosystem available which I've never heard of. Cheers

It's a lovely place to go if you like to dig a little deeper or wish to learn.
Ubiquiti's whole deal is "Enterprise but cheaper" essentially - enterprise grade gear and a generally not very enterprise price point.
          Worth more research for sure.

  • So basically it's just free shipping.
The regular price is $180 GST inc.

    WA shipping estimate $15.00

  • im after a ubiquity wifi ap actually so please put one on special

  • Last I heard of these they were basically alpha/beta software - features incomplete or just not working. Make sure you research first.

    • GUI has been updated with more features like firewall settings but not to the extent of say the edge router. Everything is still available via command line and I wouldn't say "not working". Saying that I don't have this or the edge router so only basing of what I read (the command line part) and what settings I can see on the unifi controller software. I'm sitting thinking of whether I really want this to complete the unifi interface or not as its quite expensive.

The USG is rapidly closing on the features of the Edgerouter…it's currently up to the version 1.7x feature set of the Edgemax router software.

Ubiquiti recently hired the chief architect and Founder (Chris Buechler ) of the pfSense router open source architecture (https://www.pfsense.org) which is a very popular router software among the geeks. His job is to work on the USG so the UBNT forums are crazy excited he's joined the team so expect to see some big things.

$5.84 cheaper than the next lowest for me (NSW).
    Better than nothing.
    Not a huge bargain though.

OzBargainers want bargains.. so upselling design, installation and management services.. Possibly not a good move.

      • Yep, we understand. Been around these traps for long enough… That's why we can supply just the product if that's what's wanted.

Then post your own bargain and offer a historic low price on a Ubiquiti product, rather than hijack this one.

        • @lmh86:

Fair point you make. Thanks for your reply.
          Apologies My IT Hub

          Regards,

          David
