  Using a tester like this is NOT the correct way to test brake fluid. These are dubious at best, only proper way is by testing the boiling point. http://www.penriteoil.com.au/tech_pdfs/207%20-%20Brake%20Flu…

  If you're unsure of the condition of the brake fluid in your car and don't want to/don't know how to change it then just take it to a mechanic.

    I'd also stick with "If you don't know the last time it was changed, then you should change it" - within reason of course.

    Perhaps a tester would be useful for when one routinely checks water, washer,, brakes and clutch oil coolant levels, and if in doubt see your friendly expert.

  This is true but 1-2yrs is over board, once every 4 years is fine.

  As for the tester, your better off not wasting money on it and just changing the fluid if uncertain. Providing you can do it yourself
