True. However, my suggestion was for the person with the old struts. I use vice grips on my wife's car. They work and have not made the old struts any worse in form or function.

Timely! I just broke mine on Sunday when a gust of wind slammed the hood down (bloody old gas strut lift arms). SCA was asking for $4 while Repco wanted $2.50.
