  • Membership is expiring next March…
Can I renew before the expiry date?

    • I think that this is for New Accor Plus members only.

    • You should be able to about 30 days before expiry but yes I think its only for new members.

These f#*$ers stitched me up with this thing. Free stay is a big wank in my opinion. It's basically the leftover rooms and there is NO gaurentee. The discounted meals don't always apply and you HAVE to book.

Bought it for my first year wedding anniversary. IMO you're better off booking direct rather than rely on the benefits provided…

    • I had a hard time using my free room also.

The other big catch is you may loose your earned status and points at the end of the year if you don't renew. I'm uncertain but that's what the Accor Plus rep told me.

      • status/points are the le club accorhotels rewards programme which can be linked to your accorplus account but shouldn't be affected by it

        • My understanding is the accounts merge into an Accor Plus membership which comprises your Accor Plus and Le Club in one account.

Last year when I tried to not reapply for Accor Plus my Le Club account was suspended. As I was in the middle of a trip the easiest solution was to renew Accor Plus membership.

Have you successfully kept your earned rewards status after cancelling your Accor Plus membership? I find the reward status to be of a much higher benefit than the Accor Plus benefits.

        • @rob74:

interesting - perhaps someone can explain this?

        • @rob74:

You are correct. You automatically get silver membership

        • @bemybubble:

@rob74 is not talking about getting le club silver when joining accorplus (if you have no status), but losing le club status (silver/gold/platinum) when leaving accorplus, which seems wrong/unfair and a good reason not to link them

        • @bemybubble:

I was trying to question what then happens to your le Club membership if you don't renew Accor Plus. In my experience and from speaking to Accor Plus sales assistants it seems you may loose your status and points.

Of course I'd expect to loose silver if I didn't renew or satisfy the silver requirements but I'm wondering more for when you do satisfy them.

    • I had a hard time using the room too, but got upgraded.

Trick is to book at least 3-4 months in advance for best available rooms. I booked within 2 weeks, found a decent room. Rare.

It's only good if you plan on going to some of the better restaurants.

Good to get for one year, experience all the restaurants, especially No35 a few times and book in advance for the room. After that, not worth it.

    • It's basically the leftover rooms and there is NO gaurentee.

just like with frequent flyer flights

The discounted meals don't always apply and you HAVE to book.

you don't have to book and they don't apply to kids meals and some special events/offers

Apologies for my ignorance but is Accorplus different to Le Club AccorHotels?

    • Yes. It is. Accor Plus is a paid membership with some supposedly additional benefits.

Their weekly red dot sales on hotel rooms is pretty good IMO (only available to AccorPlus members).
Often 40 - 50% off from the website prices. I booked Sofitel Sydney for less than $120 before during the red dot sales.

  • I won't be renewing next year. I have always found membership to be restrictive in your range of hotel choices. And if I do end up selecting an Accor Hotel, any membership discount price could have been equalled by half an hours research work comparing, for example Hotels.com/Cash Rewards or Cheaptickets.com/Ebates prices.

    • yes it's only worth it for the free night and discounted dining

    • Have you checked AccorPlus red dot sales prices? They are quite good and it's weekly sales.

      • not sure if they're much better than promo codes and le club private sales etc.?

        • They have extra 10% - 15% off on top of normal private sales (40% off) so it's usually at least 50% off for AccorPlus.

        • @arctan: I have never received notification of red dot sales. How do you access/view them?

        • @Peck: I think it's on accorplus.com.au

  • On the off chance that Le Club AccorHotels has a sign up offer that makes you a Platinum member do it. Then call up AccorPlus for a membership. Instant Platinum Accor Plus - yes its only for a year but still :)

    • didn't realise accorplus had status tiers? what are their benefits?

      nothing much mentioned here :(

      • Yeah I think some hotels have the full list of benefits and I know I had a ton of promo material for it when I was still working there.

If I do find anything I will let you know.

  • You could look at a way to join Accor Plus with an Indonesian address — much cheaper AND you get 2 nights free in any Asia Pacific Accor hotel

    • VPN?

      • physical mailing address

        • they mail out the stuff i assune

        • @Stahh:

          Yes

  • I joined via a contact in Accor Fiji & the Accor plus membership ended up being about A$200.
The free night was worth a lot more than this & extra discounts have been a bonus.
