Country Road: Bonus $25 Gift Card with $100+ Merchandise Spend - In-Store Today Only (Excludes Outlets) [Stack AmEx $25 Credit]

650

First post so please be nice. Got this in my email today. Could be good for Christmas presents and particularly if you can combine with the Amex cashback offer of $25 statement credit for $100 spend (note $125 purchase required due to $25 gift card)

Receive a $25 Country Road gift card when you spend $100 or more on Country Road merchandise in a single transaction in store only at Country Road stores in Australia and New Zealand on Monday 19 December 2016. The offer is not available at countryroad.com.au, David Jones or Myer stores, at Outlet stores or at outlet.countryroad.com.au.

The gift card will be handed to the customer at the time of transaction. The $25 cost of the gift card will be deducted proportionately from the price of all items in the transaction. Applicable refunds or credit notes provided will only reflect the purchase price of the item as displayed on the receipt, rather than the original ticket price.

Looks like the $25 gift card is applied immediately on the transaction meaning you will need to buy $125 min if you want to get the Amex $25 back within 1 transaction. I guess you can ask for the $25 gift card for next use instead?

    • Oh really? Seemed in T&C that gift card would be issued with 12 month validity…

thanks, but seems no - deal updated:

      • Damn oh well hopefully useful for some still.

    • The gift card is not deducted straight away. The T&Cs aren't that clear but it's just saying that your receipt will show you paying proportionally less for each item. The cost of the card is deducted, to try and stop people getting refunds and pocketing the gift card. Still only $100 for the Amex deal.

        Sure about this?

The second and third sentences don't make sense if I buy a $25 item in the next transaction that means I don't get anything back if I refund it when I use the gift card to pay for it.

It's saying the cost (not value) of the gift card is deducted from the price of items in the transaction. It also says that the customer is handed the gift card (opposed to it being a mail in rebate etc.) and that the gift card is valid for 12 months. There is no point in having it valid for 12 months if they are going to deduct the value straight away.

Example - if you were buying two x $50 tshirts it would look like this

          Item cost
          Tshirt $37.50
          Tshirt $37.50
          Gift card $25.00
          Total $100.00

You pay the $100 and get handed the $25 gift card. If you tried to return the shirts you would only get $37.50 each because you may or may not have already spent the gift card.

        • @Marlboro Man: I see. thanks for clarifying this. So if I want to double dip the gift card and Amex then I'll still need to get $125 worth of items.

        • @wtfnodeal:

I don't think so, not upfront. You'll need to get $100 worth of gear. They will charge you $100 and then give you the $25 card. Amex will then credit you the $25 as well.

You still pay the ticket price for the stuff you buy, it's just the receipt shows a lower value.

        • @Marlboro Man: but the $25 gift card is a trap that probably you'll end up buying $50+ stuff with it as the whole store is usually full of overpriced stuff. So I'll just buy $100 worth of items, refund and get $75 back then use the $25 gift card + $100 Amex to buy 1 or 2 items I want to begin with.

        • @Marlboro Man:

          thanks - i think that's it :)

hmm i did see 25% off store-wide before, I guess it is the same difference as getting a $25 gift card when spending $100+, except you can spend less and still get 25% off? Nevertheless thanks for the post op, went in a couple of times and just could not find anything good to buy…yet….

    • this is 80% off - paying $100 for $125 value

      • +1

        Do you mean 20% off?

        • +1

          sorry, yes - though i wish that i didn't :)

      • +2

your math is way off champ

        • +1

bah, indeed, the Monday effect ;-)

      • if you can use the $25 immediately to pay for the $100 transaction then it is 25% off. See my comment above and check the T&Cs if you agree.

  • Nothing to buy! Damn their apparels are dear!

  • Does the AMEX offer only work in their stores or in the DJ / Myer store within the store?

And also not working in Outlet, how many individual stores do they actually have that you can do this with?

    • In Melbourne most big shopping centers have one e.g. Chadstone and Southland and any areas which have slightly up market, boutique stores e.g. Toorak road south yara or church st. Brighton have CR stores

  • +1

Bought some items from CR earlier today and was given a $25 gift card to used in the future.

$25 was not removed from my purchase total.

  • so i can use a 100gc to buy something .. and they will still give me another $25 gc?

    • yes seems so

  • So you still need to buy $125 of goods to get the AMEX credit as well OR not ?
