You have been warned.. This is Yuri.

  • +4

Thanks OP. Just ordered the collection just now. C&C for the win.

    • +3

Its an online download, not click and collect. Silly duffer.. :)

      • +2

I ordered too and damn you if you think I'm not marching down to EA headquarters and demanding a physical disk version.

Or at least getting Einstein to go back in time and eliminate EA.

  • +3

I have this. On my desktop some don't work. On my laptop with switchable graphics, most don't work. (Windows 10)

  • +4

    Shake it,baby!

    Bought.

ps. Ended up of getting only 10 C&C games in My Game Library, anyone knows why?

    • +1

      Expansions….

      • +1

Browsed every single one, under the Extra Contents, all shown "No expansions found."

        • +1

The Covert Operations is an expansion to Command and Conquer, Aftermath and Counter Strike are to Red Alert… etc etc.

  • +2

    Hmm. Conflicted…

    I don't have a Windows machine at the moment, but … $4.99!

    • Install it in a Win VM

      • +1

Or watch OzBargain for a deal on a new PC/Laptop…

      • +1

you are joking right? vm to play games?

      • +1

Don't install a VM, use Wine

All the Command & Conquer's have a Platinum rating under Wine and as a result should run smooth as butter on Mac or Linux when installed/played under Wine. ;)

  • +2

I assume they don't work on Windows 10

    • +2

I have this and am on Win 10. Every game has worked.

      • +1

So this is the remastered one

        • +1

Yep, I bought it from EB a while back - Had a glitch at one stage but my PC was flaky at the time.
No issues downloading and installing them, no playback issues.

    • +1

      Or don't assume anything.

  • +1

    Reviews:

    https://www.amazon.com/Command-Conquer-Ultimate-Collection-O…

I think I'll skip this, EA never cease to amaze me…

    • +2

No problems on my Win 10 machine ^_^

    • +1

When you read 1 star reviews like 'games will not down load. plus you can't return it. I guess that why it is so cheap. oh and way to go amazon it should at least say non returnable along with the price. to bad it did not. oh well, bet you got your cut.'

do you seriously take that as fact?

The EA hate thing is a little boring too btw.

As above, it's worked on Windows 10, and I had them working no issues.

      • +1

EA aint that bad, they made C&C and FIFA

        • +1

EA didn't 'make' C&C; Westwood Studios actually made the C&C series but got reamedbought by EA.

Everything pre-Red Alert was Westwood, C&C:Tiberian Sun was a Westwood product but rushed to market by EA post-takeover, and the last Westwood employee left EA after C&C:Generals was released.

        • +1

@AbeFroman: I didn't know the last WW left after Generals.

But EA LA made C&C3 and Ra2 which were considered good. Then they made the godawful C&C4 which killed the series.

  • +2

Funny that a well coded game like Starcraft seems to work without issue, without patch, OS after OS

    • +4

      Starcraft has had countless patches….

      • +1

The unpatch original still runs on all OS's

      • Starcraft patches are nothing compared to LoL

    • +1

Starcraft used to have colour issues with Win7

      • +1

Still does on some systems but it's not ingame

  • +3

I wish they didn't cancel Generals 2. What a slap in the face.

    • +2

to be fair, apparently people who played an early build thought the game (or at least the mmorpg that Generals 2 turned into) was utter crap. And this is EA we're talking about, if it was crap enough for them to not milk it for money, it must have been reeeeeally crap.

C&C has a lot of fans and EA loves money, so I'm sure there's something in development somewhere still.

      • +2

I was in the alpha, this game had potential but there was something off, like a bag of rubbish down the road that belongs to the neighbours, you wish they would fix it and you wish your old neighbours would move back in. Lots of micro transactions, always online, drm

        • +1

Those problems sound easy to fix. Just change to a full price model instead of freemium. But of course, EA were greedy and that's the world we live in.

  • +9

Unable to comply, building in progress

    • +3

      Insufficient power.

      • +4

Low power. Unit ready, unit lost, your mission is a failure.

    • +3

New construction options… Building… training building…contruction complete, unit ready. Our base is under attack…

Best infantry dying voice was using flamethrower burning machine gun soldiers. Aaaaarrrggg! Love burning civilian building using force attack rofl

Don't forget CC edit, edit the buggy to fire Sam missiles to ground. Build lots on one mission in original C&C constant firing to reinforcements was so fun to watch

      • +1

        CONSTRUCTION COMPLETE!!!!!!

      • +1

Easier to do with infantry since they clump in groups of 5. Although they are a lot slower to move. But a screenfull of minigunners with SAM missiles will do a lot more damage and look more spectacular than a screen full of buggies.

        • +1

Only issue is they move slow. Buggy is fast moving

        • @neonlight: Playing on a P166 on max speed, it was so fast anyway it didn't matter. Once the troops got there, it was a slaughter.

But yeah SAM missiles are OP. There's a reason only SAM sites are meant to have it and they can only hit air units (though they were useless against A10 air strikes).

  • +1

Command & Conquer: Generals: Zero Hour was my jam! GLA

    • +5

      But I'm just a peasant :(

      • +4

        Can I have some shoes?

        • +3

          Ak-47's for everybody!

    • +4

C&C predicted the rise of ISIS!

  • +1

give me something to break…… goodie

  • +1

my god thank you, childhood memories are coming back

  • +4

    I miss Westwood studios!

    • +1

      Among with Bullfrog haha

  • +5

C&C3 was honestly a very beautiful game, a nice development from C&C2. Shame EA cut the budget for C&C4 and decided to make the world's worst game ever played.

    • +1

Agree. C&C3 and it's expansion were well executed. Use to play that game heaps over LAN with my bro.

Really wish they didn't rush and botch up Tiberian Twilight.

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

  • +1

I miss the C&C generals mods like cold war crisis and the middle east one….

  • If you are just interested in the old C&C games I think you can download them for free from https://cncnet.org/

They probably even run better than this half-assed collection.

    • +2

Yeah that only allows you to play c&c, red alert and tiberian sun. RA2 requires an install. The rest of the games in the "half-assed collection" are not playable. Stop talking out of your arse.

      • -2

Stop talking out of your arse.

As a New Year's Resolution, maybe you can resolve not to be a douche bag? And practice reading comprehension, I specifically said:

If you are just interested in the old C&C games

I think "c&c, red alert and tiberian sun" fit the criteria of the old C&C games.

  • +1

    Thanks op!

  • +1

Wow, the first time I played C&C was like 20 years ago on my first Desktop running Intel Pentium 166 MMX, 8GB EDO RAM, 2.1GB Harddisk ..

    • +4

8GB RAM? What is this witchery???

      • +6

More RAM than disk. What a dream!

      • +1

Haha, typo, should be 8 MB, was a bit over excited ;)

    • +1

64MB Ram to be more realistic

    • 8gb RAM back 20 years ago? I am pretty sure you did some time travel!

  • +1

will these work on a win7 machine? i both the physical the last decade disc but they won't work and i;ve given up :(

  • +4

FREE You can download RA2 + expansions and older for free from https://cncnet.org/

cncnet.org version also supports internet play! Have not tried that.

On our Win 10 machines, and a few hours of game play …
    - C&C: installs, loads, & saves fine. Sometimes the graphics gets a bit screwy
    - Red Alert: runs well thus far, including the LAN play
    - Others; not installed

Am tempted to buy this for the other games. Loved the series, but never finished it…

    • +1

Just to confirm, you are playing these games over the internet as opposed to downloading them? That doesn't work for my mobile only data connection.

      • +1

        You download the executables.
Can't help you with the mobile connection ;)

    • +1

This seems to just be multiplayer skirmishes? How do I access the campaign?

      • +1

Good question. Their site is a bit confusing.

There are two main buttons to download the games.

        1. Download online and play
          green button
This allows you to download the internet executable. Multiplayer skirmishes.

        2. View all downloads.
White button, just under the green button.
This allows you To download the single player campaigns and LAN play

  • +1

    I need some shoes

  • +4

    "Nuclear silo detected"…….."unit lost"

    • +1

      genetic mutator…. ready.

  • +2

The original c&c was great, nuclear weapon was over powered though. Red Alert had infinite army capabilities however back when computers weren't the best the game began to slow down after you had 300 tanks or so. Red alert 2 was good but prism tanks were op. Generals was good but the terrorist faction was lackluster. Ra3 was great, the expansion was super cool, but no multiplayer killed it. c&c4 was so rubbish.

  • +1

I played C&C Red Alert until 3:30 am when I got my first computer…

Back to this collection,RA2,Tiberian Sun will require some online search to be run properly on current PCs, C&C generals and C&C3 have bugs which will keep reminding you this is an old game when playing, the only games that could be played are indeed C&C4,RA3 and its expansion.

    • +1

So that are not really compatible with Windows 10 and current gen PC's…

  • +1

You must construct additional pylons…. Oh wait…

    • +1

"Silos needed" you mean… Oh wait

      • +1

Silos were the worst idea. I think RA2 was the first Westwood game to ditch the silos.

      • +1

        Thpawn new overlordths…

My gf hated that game, which made me love it a little more.

        • You must construct additional pylons.

    • +2

      blasphemy

  • +1

Can you play RA3 multiplayer online? I know in the version I have the multiplayer online stopped working as EA refused to support it anymore :(

EDIT: IT'S USELESS AS YOU CAN'T PLAY ONLINE…

"PLEASE NOTE: INTERNET MATCHMAKING FOR SOME OF THE GAMES IN THIS COMPILATION IS PROVIDED BY GAMESPY AND THE COMPANY HAS DEACTIVATED THESE SERVICES. HOWEVER, MULTIPLAYER OPTIONS WILL CONTINUE TO FUNCTION IN THESE GAMES THROUGH LOCAL AREA NETWORK (LAN) CONNECTION. FOR MORE DETAILS, PLEASE READ EA’S ONLINE SERVICE UPDATES PAGE."

    • +3

Install Hamachi and play with your OzBargain mates via LAN Multiplayer.

  • +1

RA2 Yuri's revenge. I loved the Battle fortress. It was a giant tank that could crush over tanks by running them over, like tanks can run over infantry. And it had space for 5 infantry who can shoot out of it. I loved putting 5 Chrono Legionnaires in it. They vaporize things pretty much instantly.

    • +2

I like to chronosphere the opponents miners into the water. Or their ship into land.

      • +1

This was my cheat method of not fighting the black guard tanks at the end of the Allied campaign.

Also great fun chronosphering a battleship onto land.

  • +1

I remember when I was a kid I wanted red alert and it costs $99, I had to beg my mum to get it for Xmas, there was no choice but to buy it from retailer like EB games

Times have changed. And this deal is a steal at $5 to own all those games without walking to a store.

I still prefer physical media so I don't need to download.

Bought one but not sure if I would play them. Bought for nostalgic reason

Best titles in the series was original C&C, red alert, red alert 2/3,C&C 3
