    • Are you sure? the $169 i saw was a 24"

        Sorry to hear that

Looks like you just broke into the car and took a pic before you flogged it.

    • Haha I was actually worried someone might do that to me, but then saw two cars behind me someone trying to fit an Aldi TV that was huge into their car. Figured that would be higher priority for thieves :p

    • Makes sense ;-)

  • what would be the max resolution on one of these?

    • +3

      probably 1366x768

      • -3

        yuck lol

        • +7

its a cheap tv, what do you expect lol
you want full HD pay more or go for the 4K model JVC if you can find one

          @shawncro 222:

          maybe it's the time for putting 4 TVs together and make a 2732 by 1536 - 64 inch TV… I am just joking…

Depending what you use it for, not going to make much of a difference. Built a MAME cabinet around a 32" Samsung LCD and given the native res of the games. Doubt a FHD display would look any different. The crap they broadcast here isn't going to look any different either. Blurays, Playstation or XBox though, yeah.

        • +1

          @rhangman:

          MAME is good.

        • @sillywalks: Would like to build a mame rig too. Seen them flogging the tabletop setup down at the local Westfield a few months back. They were quite tight lipped about it all, said Namco had gotten onto them and now its supplies as is empty although on their website they teach you how to get the games etc.

Wondering tho would you guys go tablet with android setup or use a pc upright rig? Im keen for a tabletop but lotta work to rig it all..

        • @ninjataki:

Plenty of YouTube videos on how to build cabinet, wired the joysticks and setup the front end eg MAME (there are many others). Wouldn't be hard to find out how to set it up on Android or a jail broken iOS device.

Tabletops are good as they don't take up much room. Uprights are good as they allow you to go crazy with graphics and lights and 4 player setups. Cocktail cabinets also work as great coffee tables. So each has their positives.

      • The old man bought a 32" AWA a few years back, and it's 1080p. Awful TV though. Ordinary panel, cheapo UI, weak sound, terrible remote. Can't speak for what's on the shelf now, but I don't have high expectations.

    • I can confirm it's 13xx by 7xx
@ 3m distance looks beautiful ie from my lounge chair
Any closer and you do notice some jaggies but for the price I'm stoked.

  • I might be wrong but from my personal experience, 32 inch TV would be 1366 by 768 panel in general.

It's still within the HD range (not FULL HD of course) in terms of the native resolution…

Again, this might not be the case for this model…

Just checked, only a 720p model, not full HD. But what would anyone expect at that price?

    • Almost 4 years ago you could buy a 32" FHD TV for this price. Why not today when prices have come down so much over the last few years?

      • +1

        supply and demand
markets change 4K,UHD,SUHD, OLED is the new technology

1080p sets under 40 inch are rare now

I bought one from this deal. Still heavily used daily as a PC monitor in my back room.
Still works the same as the day I bought it. Well worth what I paid for it.

  • Hmm yeah looking for a second telly but anything under FHD is a no-no (unless it's freeee). They cram crazy high resolutions in laptops nowdays, I'd hate to see what 720p looks like on a 32" screen. Then again you get what you pay for I suppose.

    • LG 32LH604T and Samsung UA32K5500AW are about the only companies that still sell new 32" Full HD smart TVs but at around of $595. May as well go for a larger one for around that price or not much more.

      • Yep that was my thinking as well, thanks.

        • HiSense 32" Smart Tv Full HD $395 - Look around.

My parent's bought the Akai 40" for $299 (officeworks deal on OzB), one word: regret. Craptastic colours, contrast and speakers, compared to my Sony 55" I got for $900 on clearance. Just Saying. It's just that there is some people that comment on crap TV's with quotes like "great colours" etc, and I'm not sure if they have a good point of reference, although there are people that look at the Sony and the crap tv and somehow don't see any difference, so there's that. Basically if you have discerning taste, don't buy one of these expecting anything other than what you paid for.

    • cheap and nasty :)

  • F*!£ you Woolies, trying to offload cheap Chinese crap under a dodgy cash-for-branding JVC

    • its Akai, not JVC .. but the same thing about brands though.

Well that explains the bloke pulling up in the Lexus SUV on Druitt Street near the Woolies Town Hall service entrance around mid-day on 30 December, and the Woolies guy emerging with a cart full of 8 or 10 of those TV's that were promptly stuffed into every available nook and cranny in the Lexus.
