How would this compare to the 48" JVC 4k TV that was on sale last week for $328?
This price seems a little high for a basic 40" these days.

    • teac is allegedly still a japanese brand unlike jvc

it's just a rebadged random china product these days.
try looking for a TEAC remote control on aliexpress - they don't have them.

        • TEAC is still a Japanese company that makes good (mainly audio) stuff, TEAC Australia on the other hand just rebrands no name Chinese crap (it used to import TEAC japan, but after the Aus management did some dodgy shit it was sold to a company in Singapore).

  • If buying a cheapie tv why wouldnt you just buy the 55in 4K from Aldi for $499. Some store still have one or two in stock.

Maybe Some people cant handle the extra inches.

      • its not the size that matters

          It's how you use it…..

PC monitor or sport or PlayStation….I.e. Refresh rate

  • There is actually a optimal TV sizing chart for viewing distance. I used something similar (not this website, but similar) when I was trying to figure out what to buy a few years ago (before 4k was a thing). 40" might be all you need. :)

Used one of those calculators first time I bought a flat screen 7 years ago. It was for my Father (only person using TV for simple TV watching) who was used to a much smaller CRT TV in a reasonable size lounge.

42" was calculated optimal size for viewing position. 6 months later he found it a little small, so 42" was moved to bedroom replacing another CRT. It's still in use & ideal size for that location. A 50" was installed in lounge, with seats moved back a little. Now it's time to upsize again…

So don't always go by the sizing calculators. But you can always move your seats closer to the TV if it seems a little small 📺
