Melbourne to Bangkok Fare with Royal Brunei $554 (Jan-Nov)

210

Just noticed that skyscanner has a $554 return airfare, I tried 2nd Feb to 13th February return. This is good for full service on their spacious dreamliner.

If I returned on the Saturday earlier it was dearer. so I am guessing that the date changes if you return on or after 13th February return.

With Royal Brunei you have to remember that there is one stop over in Brunei and to book the short flight days or else you are up for a stop over night's accommodation. Look for flight duration of 10.30 hours MEL to BKK and duration of 12.30 hours BKK to Melbourne.

I think this is a good price for a full service airline as you have to pay extra on low cost carriers such as Scoot, Airasia or the direct flight with Jetstar
for meals, blankets and luggage.

Royal Brunei and Jetstar arrive at main international airport which connects to train service which links to skytrain and underground rail system.

Not quite full service as there is no grog served.

    • And possibly "risky" to stop over coming back from Bangkok …

Fly Jetstar/.Tiger/Scoot and pay for your alcohol so you can numb your body, or fly in comfort and have a nice cocktail or more when you get there 😀🍸

Flew Royal Brunei to London in October and a great airline. While no grog served on board you are welcome to take some duty free on board and consume it. They will supply ice and mixers. What you open cannot be taken through transit in Brunei. We took a bottle of red wine to have with our lunch and a small bottle of whiskey for an after dinner drink. If you wish to take something for the next leg it must be in a tamper proof bag (around 50 cents at the duty free shops) and remained sealed as you transit Brunei. Great planes and plenty of leg room.

  • I've seen cheaper flights to Thailand

  • of course, low cost carriers are cheaper but by time you add in all extras this price is cheaper and takes less time. seating is not as squashed as Jetstar either although that is direct. You really notice it when the person in front of you reclines on the cheaper airlines.
