Tempting, but I've been bitten before by Vaya.

    • -3

      How did Vaya bite you?
      By teeth? Was there venom?

      • +5

No venom, but a bad after-taste. Once bitten twice shy…

        • Do tell how though, so I know if I should consider them

@purplelady: Time wasting billing issues and for me bad customer service. Generally wasting my time for their (profanity) ups.

        • +3

@purplelady: they keep billing you even after you leave and in my case they started charging my credit card 9 months after i had left.

        • @malouphix: oh ok ok, thanks for letting me know!

        • @dan0909: ow.. that's nasty! -_-"

    • Before or after Amaysim took over (i.e. Jan 2016)?

  • Can existing cutomers do this too? Im more interested in switching to the 3gb plan and paying upfront ($18pm for 12 months)

    • Says new customers only so you'd have to port out and port back in. They also won't budge even if you ask them on this. I've tried.

  • "Save big on 12 month plans
Use code: SAVE before 17 January, 11:59pm. New orders only. T&Cs apply"
    I'm guessing new customers only.

    Vaya? lol no thanks.

    • More like

Any telco with terrible customer service? No thanks.

  • Dud service and network. BTDT. 😕. GO with Telechoice. .. best network (T), real service, great prices. …😉. … !!

    • Still waiting for their sims ordered around mid-Dec…. some time it's not about customer services… Ship could happen to anyone

IMO, better of with Kogan 12 month prepaid if just for the capped data

i HAD to write this because I see people badgering Vaya…(they may have had issues & I sympathise with them for that ) ….but as for me….Have had three accounts for the last two years…. $18 /month (~$650 worth calls & 1.5 Gig data) - one for dad (low usage) two for kids (high data usage - one of them travels by train to/from school in Melbourne)….have never had any coverage issues. Bills paid by direct debit…works like a breeze never been charged 1$ extra….kids have learnt to manage within the confines of the 1.5 Gig. One of them forced me to move him to Kogan last month to get 8 Gig for $5 extra per month which I finally relented. We went to Falls Creek for new years & guess what …Kogan connection was the only one which had periods of no-connectivity…rest all managed well!

    • It's a worthwhile point. I was with Vaya until two years ago, during their absolutely awful period, but since then the amount of negative commentary seems to have shrunk, perhaps due to the new ownership or just because they miraculously learnt their lesson (?!).

      • +4

nah!!…. shrinking customer base I would say!

        • LOL, I forgot that option;)

        • +2

          @bloomer:

perhaps "they miraculously learnt their lesson "

"they" being Ozbargainers not Vaya learning their lesson! lol

I agree with you. I have been with them since 2014 and never had an issue. I have 2 accounts $18 /month (~$650 worth calls & 1.5 Gig data) same as you. My wife and I can talk free with each other (VAYA to VAYA is free) My wife has only gone over the download quota once which was charged $10 extra for 1 gig and that's about it. Needless to say that other customers may have problems with them. Maybe we are some of the lucky ones.

        ~$650 worth calls

That's meaningless since you paid $18 and you didn't tell us what that got you just like Vaya.

        • +4

I'm basically saying that I never had a problem with VAYA. Coverage or customer service has always been good. When I read some of the previous posts some costumers had problems with both which I haven't experienced yet.

Been using Vaya for a couple of years now and the only problems I've had were the fault of my phone. The only downside is they use Optus so it's kinda hopeless outside the city

  • +3

Worst customer experience of my life. Multiple instances of pure incompetence & shocking service. Would never go back, even if free.

    • Main reason I switched to Telechoice (T). I'm on the northern GC and had ZERO reception at home with Vaya (O).. 3 bars or more on T .. 😄 .. !!

  • +1

Been with them for ~6months. not a single problem.

  • +1

Avoid! Terrible service and had major issues porting with them

Billing was performed incorrectly and when I contacted them they gave me the run around.

  • -1

you pay $10 minimum for any additional usage. Yes even 50kb over your allowance.

This makes this deal completely pointless.

    • Can you elaborate?

    • You can uncheck the option to bill in $10/gb blocks when you sign up, but obviously it will be more expensive per gb. If you go over, it is 4c/MB which solves for if you got over just 50kb.

  • Upfront? Ye no thx.

  • Avoid vaya at ALL costs.

  • I had this plan 4 years ago at this price. Given the intense competition since, Is this considered a deal today?

  • May be this is better for a couple of dollars more per month: https://www.koganmobile.com.au/plans/mobile/

    3GB data + unlimited calls & text, $209.93 annual

But then its Kogan (also called Dick Smith)!

  • The only way for existing customer to use this is switch to prepaid and switch back to Vaya. Absolutely spewing I only saw this at 5pm on the last day of the promotion.
