Bought the freight, hope the earphones come with it!

PayPal didn't work for me. Used CC

  • theres so many earphones around this price at local retailers…

    $5 in-ear TDK earphones @ Target.

Not the same ones. These could be better, could be worse. According to expansys these retail for $28.17 if you can believe that. If they come with a carrying pouch they're probably more premium than the Target $5 ones.

I'm passing because you can get basic Xiaomi pistons for around $5, and those are better.

yup but the adapters are a nice addition.

        But usually free on planes.

Placed order seems legit, $6 shipping. No paypal had to use CC

TDK. I rememer them. They were the leading manufacturer of cassette tapes in the 90s. What happened to them?

    • they have fair bit of share in cds too

      • Blank CDs you mean? Those are not a thing anymore either…

What else do they make these days?

They are Verbatim were the premium media brand and it seems both fell into obscurity and irrelevance.

No return, no refund and no warranty applicable.

    https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees…

It is against the law for businesses to tell you or show signs stating that they do not give refunds under any circumstances, including for gifts and during sales.

Here have a neg for the dodgy practice.

    • +3

Despite the revision my neg still stands. To not know that law, goes to show how dodgy you'd be about chasing any sort of refund for anything

This is absurd, this is a free item they are giving away and the ACL does not cover this. To suggest they are dodgy because they are giving away something without support is utterly and totally unreasonable.

To be fair.. the refund you would have gotten would be the price you paid, $0.

I doubt they will refund the shipping costs to you.

If you tried to return them for warranty, they'll say, sorry we can't replace it, but we will by law give you your money back. Which is $0. So here, have nothing. To suggest that its true value is $6, not $0 would imply that you were entitled to free shipping, and I don't see how you can argue this in court. Aussie post isn't free. $6 is not a high enough price for the headphones that they can recover the free shipping costs (for you) and still make some money off it.

          Aussie post isn't free

FWIW these aren't aussie stock for $6 shipped:

          AU - DHL [Tracking Avail] (Est. 3 - 4 Days) $20.00

          AU - Toll (Tracking Avail) (Est. 3 - 4 Days) $24.00

          AU - Air Mail (No Tracking Avail)(PO Box) (Est. 10 - 15 Days) $6.00

          @Spackbace:

Well if they are coming from overseas, then the ACCC laws are not even going to apply. They're being sold TO Australia, but not being sold IN Australia. You are importing them. We've all learned when grey importing products that we're either going to have a harder time getting warranty, or we're willing to forego it altogether, a risk being the true price of cheaper goods. By law smartphones must have 2 year warranty when sold in Australia but grey imports can be 1 year for instance. So not all regulations apply when dealing with imports.

          Correct me if I'm wrong.

You haven't provided me enough context for me to figure out whether you are quoting some other product, or this product's shipping options.

        • @lostn:

Retailer operating out of Australia with an ABN - ACL applies. I've seen nothing from Expansys to state the products are grey-import or anything. When Kogan sells Grey-Import, they state it's being sold by Kogan HK or some such.

The shipping times, however, show that they're apparently coming from overseas.

Though I'm just taking everything off face value. Without the rep actually commenting and saying the 10-15 day postage is BS, it's all I have to go off.

You haven't provided me enough context for me to figure out whether you are quoting some other product, or this product's shipping options.

The shipping options I stated are for these earphones

    • Here have a neg for the dodgy practice.

It is not against the law to offer no returns, refunds or warranty on something given away for free without having to purchase anything.

      The neg is unwarranted.

        including for gifts

        Ah huh… Try again

        • Ah huh… Try again

Try again yourself, that only applies when the gift is given with a transaction covered by the ACL. ie. Buy a oven and it comes with a free microwave.

  • "original TDK" is a funny term.

They long ago sold off their brand name & if their products now are anything like their headphones that were offered by Officeworks here a little while ago, the products have no resemblence to old TDK quality whatsoever (which was A1).

In desperation I have paid more than this for a headphone splitter….

    • Same - worth it for the adapters alone..

    • Ah, I originally wasn't going to bother till I saw your comment. Going to get this for the splitter (and a spare pair of earphones is always handy).

  • So moto z play, they are grey import?
