  • I am unable to see any link once I log on to my ammexconnect (www.amexconnect.com.au).
Wondering whether it's not available for bank-issued Amex cards ?

    • You just swipe/tap your (bank-issued) AmEx at the trolley rack. It's not a statement credit, you simply won't get charged.

      • Thanks very much - I was not aware of that.
I have swiped my non-Amex card for so many times there :(

This is one of my pet hates when travelling overseas from Melbourne airport. Lucky it's only applicable for departures nowadays. My dad told me that they used to have trolley charges for incoming about 15-20 years ago as well. I always try to find a trolley in the car park or near the baggage counters. I even had a worker take a trolley out of my hands (literally snatched it) when he saw me taking it before he could get there. I gave him a few choice words, went to the baggage counter and found 5 other trolleys. Nothing more than a money grabbing exercise in my opinion.

    • Snatching a trolley? That seems excessive.

I have had trolley collectors wait around for my trolley at Perth airport, and I have out run a trolley collector to avoid paying for one also in Perth, and they let it go.

  • The T&C states that "…Excludes American Express… Business Cards that are affiliated with a wholesale partner…"

I have an Amex CPA Edge card and an Amex David Jones card with Amex.

My question is: Are these cards that I have considered as cards that are affiliated with a wholesale partner (CPA Australia or David Jones)?

    • CPA Amex here worked fine

    • On my last overseas trip I used my DJ AMEX(I saw the ad on trolley at the airport) and I didn't get charged

  • Last time I went to the airport there was a complementary trolley near my car. Thanks whoever didn't return it!

I just think Sydney is the worst charging for a trolley. It makes a bad reputation for tourists departing. Leaving a bad taste in their mouths. Should be free. Tax payers money should cover it already.

I've seen many times people looking for trolley then found out and said stuff that not paying.

$4 is a joke and a rip off

If they make it refund when trolley is returned like supermarkets then I understand so to avoid being lost…. But for using it? Come on seriously

Knowing Ozbargainers, probably would either find a free one at airport or have dedication to get a CPA to get AMEX card free

For me I have a AMEX card and I don't even bother using it for this free trolley bull crap. Because I see it as a protest against this ripoff practice.

  • Complimentary, rouges, trails…

Would you like to trail this complimentary trolley from those rouges at American Express?

    • Complimentary is correct.

      • Wow. Well played Mandela Effect, well played.

There's always plenty of leftover trolleys just outside the train station entrance FYI - just look around either the barriers, or around the lifts on the arrivals level.

But really, this is just one nail in the coffin that makes me really ashamed that Australia has the most unwelcoming and stingiest airports in the world - and I've been to plenty of them.

At least in other airports, the trollies that come with a charge, also comes with someone pushing your bags to the check in counter.
