seems gimmicky. i think you want lights on the back or front of your bike, not rotating around on your wheels

  Of course you want front and rear. But you would not believe how many near collisions I've had from some gormless monkey coming off a side street and not seeing me, even though I have bright front and rear lights. So I have side lights on in dark riding too now.

    Amazing how many of these monkeys wear black…
    Bike front and rear lights often have a narrow beam, and rarely shed any light sideways.
    If car drivers claim they did not see you, then it's best to believe them.
    Perhaps side lights are a good idea.
    Another option is reflective ankle bands.

      I wear a high vis fluoro reflective workmans vest when I ride, and I have side reflectors. And they have their headlights on. In my opinion, anyone, on foot or bike who decides to ride at night wearing black is begging to be hit.
      
      I expect the gormless monkeys inability to see me is the same reason this happens to motorcycles too - we aren't large enough. So some suburban XXXX driving an on road 4WD can only think with their minds in terms of big mobile bricks. And yes, I can see when it is happening so I've not yet been hit. I can see their tiny pin heads looking way behind me, and moving forward not looking in their direction of travel. Yes, So in slo mo I'm seeing then start to turn left around a corner with their head turned right. Idiots.
