Velocity Global Wallet Travel Card - Double Velocity Points on International Spend

Hi Guys, just got a targeted offer for Velocity travel wallet cards.

Right now, with Global Wallet®, you can earn double Velocity Points when you spend in a foreign currency*. Simply activate your Global Wallet® card, load your money, and earn 2 Points per $1 spent on your international purchases. But hurry – this offer ends 16th February.

*Offer only available to the named recipient of this email. Not valid in conjunction with any other offer and non-transferable. To be eligible for double Velocity Points you must have an activated Global Wallet® account and complete an eligible Points earn transactions in a foreign currency (not AUD) between 00:01 AEST 16 January 2017 and 23:59 AEDT 16 February 2017 ('Campaign Period'). All eligible transactions during this period will be awarded double Velocity Points. The bonus Points will be allocated to your Velocity Account within six weeks of the end of the promotion period. The bonus Points will be awarded once, and only to the Velocity member who received this email.

^Velocity Points earn applies to purchases made by use of the Global Wallet® card only and excludes ATM withdrawals, quasi cash transactions, fees and charges, account adjustments, reversed transactions and gambling transactions. Members will earn 1 Point per AU$1.00 (in the equivalent international currency) for international spend on the Global Wallet® and 1 Point per AU$2.00 of domestic AUD currency spend on the Global Wallet®.

    You do realize they have at least 5% margin on FX transactions, right ? So 2 points per dollar is peanuts for them.
    Might be useful for domestic earn. 0.5 point per dollar.

    • FX is terrible, but if you need a few more points and need to cycle through some cards, could use for a while instead of 28deg or another.

  • I'm not sure where you get the 5% margin from, but I got an email from Qantas on a sale of their FX rates. But comparing them both the velocity card didn't need a sale to beat them. I like that I earn points and if I'm going to get charged an FX fee, I want something for it.

      The spread is big, would be upward of 3% on all fx money cards. Happy to be proven wrong as it will give me an alternatively to 28/citi/bankwest. :)
