Key Features

The Swann DVR8-159 8 Channel Home Security System comes with eight 720P HD cameras, allowing you to place cameras all over the house. You can cover each of your main rooms and the key entrances and exits without having to prioritise which is the more important. Weather resistance also ensures the cameras will still perform their duties even when placed outside.
The cameras of the Swann DVR8-159 8 Channel Home Security System can see detail up to 20 metres away during both day and night time, and a 55 degree viewing angle gives them a more than adequate field of view.
You can record video captured by the Swann DVR8-159 8 Channel Home Security System onto a pre-installed 500GB hard drive to be reviewed at a later date. You can also view the video and image from a compatible smart device.

  • Any good? Anyone has one already?

I wouldn't touch one of these systems with a 10ft barge pole.

500gb storage is not nearly enough space for recording 8 cameras and the user interface is not friendly.

Had a lot of issues with our Swann DVR8-1500.

      Other options here: https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/hd_security_cameras

    • don't expect good build quality on the camera, I was shocked when installing one. And 55 degree viewing angel is kind of joke.

      • I would recommend this only if you want to use it indoors (offices, shop, rooms… etc) 55ยบ view is not good for covering larger area. And of course 500gb hard disk is not perfect

  • I'm thinking about the ring line.

    www.ring.com

    • Ring is not for security purposes…. it's a useless…

      • How is ring not for security purposes? The intercom might not be the best, but what about the sensor units that record via ccds.

i know someone is going to chime in and reccommend hikvision

can i just ask if anyone knows a good installatin company in sydney?

  • They're not tooooo bad to configure. Or are you talking about the cabling? Bought a crimper and made my own cables, but yeah, if in an awkward spot I can see it being difficult.

  • I bought a Swann camera setup for a retail store and will never go back.

Not sure why, but the setup is 720p, however after some time, the camera has gone fuzzy, and has a yellow tinge.

I'm going to look at replacing with a professional install.

  • Nah give it a miss, hard drive failed in mine at some point within 3 years but it didnt tell me, what's the point if you dont know if it is recording or not!

Support is useless, told me to plug it into a different power point to see if that would magically fix it. Then they said they could sell me another one if I liked.

  • Anyone know any good deals on kits with Ethernet cameras (NVR with POE)?
