Phorus PS-1 Speakers $19.95 Each + Delivery from Mwave

120

44 units left at this price at posting. Official store sells for $149 and amazon has it for $99USD each atm.

Seems to be a competitor to Sonos play-1, reviews are mixed but they were conducted at the initial RRP which was $199, so at 10% of the cost the reviews will look significantly different.

Supports Play-Fi, BT, 3.5mm Aux. Can function as multi room speakers (up to 8) and control via app on iOS and Android.

after reading the reviews, i think ill pass. Sounds like a budget speaker with high end specs not implemented well in the design

Yeah sounds like there's a reason it's so heavily discounted.

Thanks OP - grabbed a few at that price!

The CNET review is from 2013 and was comparing this to Sonos at the same price point.
But at $19.99 (plus postage) for a wifi/Bluetooth speaker this is great value (just don't expect high end).

The Phorus website also shows that they've kept updating the apps including iOS app to be able to stream a variety of apps including Pandora, internet radio and iheart radio.

Managed to grab some in time, even after taking a while to look at reviews and compare prices.
    Thanks!

    • the work fine if you hook it up to a 2nd set of spks

  • This turned out not to be such a great deal.
My order just turned up and they are refurbished.
The outer box had 'sold as is' marked and though the inner box and wrapping looked like they'd been replaced the unit itself is worn and definitely not new.
Just checked my order details on website and this was definitely not mentioned anywhere.
Very annoying as I was going to give away as presents but that's no longer an option.

    • That is annoying and dodgy!

    • Further to this, I had a look at the ones I was sent. Whilst the brown outer carton does say "sold as is" (printed directly on carton) there is a barcode which clearly says "new". The retail box has the same barcode which also specifies "play-fi speaker new" so I don't think it is refurb. The retail box does not look opened, and the unit I opened also does not looked used, though the rubber is very easy to smudge and does give it that dirty/used feel even from just handling it.

Aside from the fact that it was annoying to update for me, it has worked as advertised so far.
