Hmm, the cynic in me thinks that this is opportunism before they announce that virtual console purchases won't carry across to the Switch.

It very strange why Nintendo doesnt provide a cross platform copy.

      • Not strange, just greedy.

The only reason they haven't announced that VC purchases will carry across to the Switch is so they can gauge how bad the blowback will be

        • Since they have changed to a new architecture with the switch I can at least see why it is non-trivial to offer these games immediately. Plus they seem to be offering modified 'online' features of some sort as well. But as a digital downloader of the Wii and Wii U (but as just as many disc purchases) I also feel like this is simply something they have to do - if they want to keep me purchasing items digitally from them.

        • @Elijha: Understand they're going to a new architecture, but these are still pretty much just ROMs running on an emulator. So all that's needed is new emulators for the Switch architecture, which they're going to do anyway, regardless of whether they bring previous purchases across or not.

IIRC, this is the first time that most or all of these have been on sale. Sales on first party games are incredibly rare. Just sometimes a couple of them have been on sale (e.g. Majora's Mask 3D was discounted in the Hallowe'en sale - I see it's not listed here). So if you've been waiting for any of these, this is probably as cheap as they're ever going to get.

I'm a little disappointed that we didn't get the full sale. In Europe, it's 30% off all Zelda games.

DON'T BUY ANY VC ITEMS UNTIL THEY ANNOUNCE WHETHER THEY WILL CARRY OVER

    • Or unless you're using it for Haxchi =D

Although currently out of stock on ozgameshop, 2 of those games for the 3ds have been/are cheaper at just their regular price. (Both are carted version though)

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

The Legend Of Zelda A Link Between Worlds

So you might be able to find them at other stores for similar prices, still hopefully beating the Nintendo sale.
