    Wow.

And what advantages does this tablet have over say… a train. Which I could also afford.

  • Quick google tells me its cheaper elsewhere without battery:
    ie $3795 http://www.lmc.com.au/products/Notebooks_and_Laptops/Panasonic/592074/Panasonic_Toughpad_FZ-G1_Mk3_Tablet_[FZ-G1L3113BA]

Still cheaper if you just buy the battery separate

  • I literally went to SpecSavers thinking I am reading the amount incorrectly. They told me that my eyes are fine…

    • No you didn't.

    • They are designed to be used by military, primary producers, police and the like who need a rugged unit regardless of price.

Its certainly not for people used to sub $500 laptops.

I kind of question by they dont have a free upgrade to Win10… for the money it should.

      • Yeah but Govt buyers wouldn't be on here looking for bargains (they have to use suppliers from their procurement list).

I reckon farmers, tradies, etc could quite easily use a cheap tablet with a rugged case.

Panasonic toughbook certainly not for everyone. Eventhough cheap tablet with a rugged case can handle a few drops, it can't be compared to toughbook tablet where not only the case but the display itself is hardened. Toughbook display also has sunlight readable feature that people can use for work outdoor. Not only that, the display can be used in the rain, with a glove on, try doing that with a cheap tablet. In addition rugged case does not provide water or dust resistant to cheap tablet. Most tablet runs on android or IOS while for work people are used to Windows, that's why toughbook mainly runs on Windows. Panasonic tablet also can be fitted with 4G, GPS, Serial port, barcode reader, and few more modules that cheap tablet doesn't offer. It also has work specific accessories such as corner guard, handstrap, vehicle dock, etc.

Overall, it's job is to function 24/7 where ever and whatever environments you bring it into.

  • only worth it if you drop this more than 10 times during its useful lifetime.

  • tell em they're dreamin

can get a new MK4 for this "deal" price

    • and I note that HT is not only >$250 cheaper, but has much more reasonable postage too.
Even to Port headland is under $28 ($14 Briz, $12 Syd, $8 Melb).

Op has missed their target market posting on here.

thanks for the doing some research and the comparison, this deal is certainly is not for everyone.

When you are spending $4000 for a tablet, bargain comes in different way than just initial price. It's the same reason why people is better off going to see a specialist than a GP. If you're spending this much money on a tablet, don't you want to make sure that you buy the right product for the right job? As a specialist on rugged device, we don't just try to move boxes, we want to make sure that the device you buy will do the job that you are intended to use it for. We will actually stop you from buying the item or suggest a better item if we think that it's an overkill or doesn't do the job you intend to do.

Again, it's not for everyone, some disease can be treated by GP, but for some harder disease you better off in the long run to pay a bit more to see a specialist.

  • Not worth our time

  • 400 over most other prices. Not a bargain

  • They're really trying to get rid of those batteries…
2 posts, both about these batteries. Perhaps they're cursed?

  • I like how you still want to hit customers up $30 for postage.
