Thermapen 3 Digital Thermometer (Dark Green / Tan) ~$56.78 AU / £34 Delivered @ ETI Ltd Amazon UK

150

These were popular during a refurbished sale:

These ones are brand new and seem to be discontinued stock. Amazon US and ebay have them for over double the price. During my research I came across cheaper thermometers online, but these claim an accuracy of ±0.4°C over the range of -49.9 to 199.9°C, thereafter ±1°C.

Protective silicone boot may be handy:

Also available in Tan colour for the same price.

  • This is my favorite digital thermometer. My only wish is they made a version with a button on the outside to change between Celsius and Fahrenheit so I didn't have to keep googling it or consulting my chart. The Version 4 has a backlight which is nice and uses a AAA but more expensive. This version is more than good enough though!

    • You're aware though you can change from C to F though by taking the battery cover off?

        Yes thanks. I'm aware of that but I often cook recipes that are American thus the need for F. Then I cook meals that are using C and I'm too lazy to take the cover off and push the button. They could easily install a waterproof button behind some silicone on the front face so you didn't have to take the cover off each time. Version 4's cover looks way easier to open but ver 3 requires a coin or cutlery to open.

        • Put it in C and then convert F to C in your head using…
          1) Subtract 32 from F
          2) Half that number
          3) Then add 10%
          Accurate to with 0.5% which is 0.5 to 1.5 degrees C at most cooking temperatures.

          Or, just get an amazon echo and say "Alexa, convert 400 Fahrenheit to Celsius"

        • @Shame:
          heh I usually ok google for it but it sure would be nice to have a button on it. Also ok google doesn't here me all the time when I'm playing a podcast on it. I wonder how well alexa hears while playing anything.

          If you switch so frequently, why not write it down?
          150 = ?
          160 = ?
          170 = ?
          etc.

    I'm surprised you can buy them from ETI.

    Last year I tried and was directed to their Australian distributor and was advised that they were the only ones who can sell them here.

    • shhh…. Country wide exclusive rights are garbage. heres hoping that contract expired.
