  • Its not a bargain unless its under $170. Its been around this price for quite long

    • Was that for the +LCD version?

      • Yes, most stores actually had clear this product long time ago. Target, Goodguys, and Surfstictch had this for ±$170

  • I'm keen to see what other people think. I want to buy an action camera soon but am not sure yet which one.
The only thing putting me off from buying this straight away is the ~2 hour record time and the battery is not removable.

Grab a Xiaomi Yi, either 1080p or the 4K version. They're fantastic.

      • I'm trying out the Yi 1080p right now, but hard to pass up the Hero+LCD for not much more - my Yi was $120AUD delivered.
Don't forget the Hero will be much easier to sell later on too

      • Oh man, now I want a Xiaomi Yi 4K… Now to find the best place to buy one, any recommendations?

I snagged mine from GeekBuying, came with an accessories pack with extra battery, charger, waterproof case and skateboard attachment for $342AUD

          @BTRaynes:

With. Go Pro you don't need a waterproof case if you buy the session of hero 5

@username1: While that is an advantage, I feel the Xiaomi Yi 4K being more than $200 cheaper than the Hero 5 more than makes up for that. The waterproof case also acts as a screen protector.

    • I have played with the sony action cams… they are awesome .. alongside the great video quality, I also love the Built-in image stabilisation, makes the world of difference.

      Don't get an action cam

Unless you legitimately need footage of your bmx ride or your latest surf

Your phone is so much easier and a dSLR works so much better. GoPro look real shaky unless you use a selfie stick or some handle mounted thing for stability

      1. GoPro
      2. iPhone
      3. 2X m43
      4. DSLR

Go pro is the only one that stays in the draw

Phones and DSLRs aren't dustproof/waterproof/shatterproof, and GoPros are far more portable.

        • Each to their own

In my experience this was one of the most useless purchases I've made.

No body wants to watch videos of me dog paddling around but YMMV

Filmic Pro makes your iPhone so much more useful

How do you attach a DSLR on your head? Or an iphone?

    • I just got the Gitup Git2 Pro. Wanted something I could use as both action cam or dashcam and this fits the bill quite nicely. Better value for less money and it has stabilising.

    • So I ended up buying the xiaomi yi 2 4k from geekbuying with the extra battery, charger waterproof case and skateboard attachment.
Also purchased an aluminium case from gearbest and a gopro accessory pack on ebay.
Splashed the cash, but I am so excited. :)
Now just to buy a microsd card. Need it soon, so I might have to go to MSY for that.
