Once took a flight from Beijing to Sydney on air China, it was the longest 18 hours of my life, the seats were worse than AirAsia

  AirAsia seats are reasonable and the food isn't too bad, albeit you have to pay for it.
  
  Have flown twice on Air China, both terrible experiences… old planes (although some are now newer), poor food, poor service, limited language ability, non existent entertainment - and that was on a shorter flight! This fare might be cheap in relative dollar terms, but it's about right for what you get…

  Cathay is top tier airline, with top tier price and top service, air china is below budget tier in service terms. If you're like me, get to plane and sleep the whole way, probably makes little difference
