Is there any expiry on unopened/used sims? That is, how long can I keep it before I have to use it?

Keep in mind these are the guys that sent out a bunch of dodgy Indonesian SIMs. Even after they found out and refunded people who complained they did nothing to inform other customers and let them arrive at their destination and work it out for themselves.

I informed them mid December and others were arriving at the end of the month and left to stuff around with faulty SIMs.

I won't be using this company again.

      Hi ozbragain

Telkomsel had accidentally provided us with Jakarta specific sim packs, they did in fact work for customers who travelled within jakarta only and had restrictions in place in Bali

We then cancelled our contract with them and refuse to work with them again because of the damage it caused to the thousands of customers who had purchased the sim cards and we had a lot of upkeep and contacting to alleviate the problem.

We did in fact message every single customer and informed them of the situation and refunded all of them in advance, we ended up solving the problem immediately, but due to the sheer volume of customers who purchased it is very difficult to get to customers especially if they have emails they do not regularly check, we ended up having to directly call 100s of customers also to inform them.

ALL customers who were informed were VERY appreciative of the support.

We all know, mistakes and problems happen with small and very large companies, they are bound to happen, it is the cost of doing business… but we worked our butts off all through the holiday period to help solve this problem.

Were always here for our customers and we pride ourselves on our customer service, were sorry you had a bad experience and again apologies for the inconvenience it has caused you, but it was a very small mistake which resulted in many loses.

      Hope that clears the picture.

      • Okay, unfortunately comments from the previous post don't really back up your version of events.

we ended up solving the problem immediately

You may have solved the internal problem of not having vetted an unreliable supplier by giving them the flick. The fact that there were customers arriving at their destination weeks later with no idea they were carrying faulty SIMs, having to stuff around at the beginning of a holiday with no access to support is hardly what most would consider a problem that had been solved immediately.

Maybe test two or three SIMs before shipping out thousands?!?!

        Hope that clears the picture.

        Rabieh El kadi - CEO

Without wanting to sound like too much of a smart @rse, CEO of how many staff? Only mentioning it because some might consider a CEO in a company of say 10-20 staff a bit of a silly title.

I had the same problem. When I arrived in Bali on 21/12/2016, my SIM card had zero credit for data and voice.
I contacted Find My Plan via their website and to their credit, they responded very quickly with explanation and refund. They apologized and suggested to buy another SIM in Bali. Instead I went to Mini Mart and reloaded with 150,000 Rp (~$15) and used Telekomsel app to purchase 3.5 GB (4G LTE) data + SMS + voice minutes (can't remember exact numbers anymore), valid for 30 days.
Needless to say, it lasted me fine for the duration of holiday, even though it wasn't massive 12GB for $10 that I originally purchased. At least I had SIM card to reload at retail rates (without haggling), rather than at local shop markups.

However, I am bit disappointed to learn that this was known issue before I left on 21st Dec and it would have been nice if I got notified before my trip.

Anyway, while I was inconvenienced, I would still give them another chance and buy again (if the price is right) for the following reasons:
      - FMP shipped SIM very quickly and it came as promised (be it with the fault and useless for Bali)
      - FMP responded quickly, refunded and provided advice.
      - Mistakes do happen, and while I wasn't one of those to receive warning in time, it appears that they've tried to do the right thing.
      - I'd rather pay FMP then line the pockets of my Aussie Telco with ridiculous roaming charges.

P.S. Hope they do re-negotiate with Telekomsel as their mobile coverage in Bali was great with good data speeds.

      • However, I am bit disappointed to learn that this was known issue before I left on 21st Dec and it would have been nice if I got notified before my trip

This is where I see the issue and why I won't waste my time with them in the future. They'd known about the dead SIMs for over a week (couldn't been more) before you arrived but didn't bother contacting you (and others). Every business will have problems, it's unavoidable, how they treat customers and deal with these problems is what separates the good from the bad.

The CEO's claim that solved they "ended up solving the problem immediately" smells a bit fishy.

  • Free postage if you order 2 or more according to the website

    2degrees has bad coverage

You are better off grabbing a skinny sim if your travelling around nz….much better coverage and only $4 from any supermarket

  • +3

vodafone plans has free roaming in nz, fairly decent network.

    • Agree. I did this. Was with prepaid, so just transferred to month to month. It does require a credit check. Prices start at at $35, but I went for $60 with 11gb. No reception issues - I think Vodafone must have network sharing with spark, as often my phone would show I was connected to spark.

  • NZ!! lol

  • ref https://www.cheapies.nz/node/10062 does anyone know if this $4 data sim is any better in coverage for the south island? can you make or receive calls from a data sim? or are you best using skpye or buying the $4 4hr sim from the warehouse too?

    • Oh, half a dozen of these might just work for me

  • Considering I just searched OzB for "New Zealand Mobile Data" this thread is extremely relevant to me interests today :)

I'm looking for a SIM to go in my Telstra 4G dongle, need it for a week, maybe 6GB of data, I won't be straying to far from Auckland so regional coverage doesn't matter…

  • Anyone received their SIMs yet?
Doesn't look like mines even been sent
