    • +2

you might as well be on vodafone you will have better customer service.

      • +3

Which plan gives you 50gb a month for under $15 a month?

        • +2

I got $12.40 a month with moose mobile 40gb plus databanking. Close enough.

    • seems like no esim unless i'm just unable to find reference…

      • +1

        It does offer eSIM

Lyca Mobile has the worst porting process. After activation, they always assign you a new number, and you have to call them to restore your old one.

    • -7

same with Vodafone prepaid. Just did it last weekend

      • Wrong information, the porting process with Vodafone is quite straightforward.

        • -3

I literally just did that process though over the phone. The operator gave me a temp number, and I had to call the next day to port over existing num.

    • +2

This is enough for me to not even bother

    • trying to save $15/month is not really worth it then lol

  • +4

I bought this on Sunday and my number was ported over by early Monday morning even though they said it would take up to 2 business days. No problem with them and customer service answered the calls quickly and was very helpful

    • +1

      Really? My terrible experience:
      1. Could not register my Sim. Their website didn't accept my driver licence. Tried different passport, different browser, all same error message. At the end, tried on their app. Registered with same driving licence.

      1. Got a new number after registration. Tried to port in my number on Friday. Their system only allowed me to pick a day which is Tuesday. Horrible.

      2. During the whole process, was trying to seek support. Webchat no response, phone call no answer. No support at all.

360 day? They couldn't stump up for extra 5 days to make it a year???

    • +20

They know it'll take 5 days to port your number so they've accounted for that. Hahahaha

    • +2

Maybe they are being kind by accounting for network outages in advance??

    • would assume it’s for a simple 12x30day allowance, although not approving of the 5 days lost (approx 1.37% in value lost)

  • +8

    No MMS

    • +2

      Is Lyca living in 2001!?

  • does anyone know if these have roaming options?

    • +2

Yes, I'm on their 30GB plan. It's 52¢/ min for outgoing calls and 30¢/min for incoming calls, and receiving messages is free.

      • thats perfect. i need it for when im working overseas to receive codes / verifications via sms for banking and credit card matters

  • 5g included?

  • Do they have time period for sim activation? I want to activate it later

    • best to do during working hours so you can call for support if you encounter issues

    • Maybe chat to them online to confirm

  • -4

    Vodafone network.

    No

  • -1

4g only and very slow the internet

    • It's also 5g

  • Can iPad cellular use this sim for data only?

    • I don't see why not.

  • +2

why 360 days, not 365? lol. wtf

  • +1

My method is cheaper, but monthly.

I regularly get the pre-paid monthly Lyca physical sim
    - Unlimited Plan S for $7 (80GB)
    - or the Unlimited Plan M for $10 (120GB)

It's on eBay Lyca Mobile Australia

    It's 4G/5G Voda.

Once you have the physical sim maybe you can convert it to eSim (I haven't tried).

    Note:
    - the above method will always get you a new number.
    - My permanent number is in the other eSim - $15 per year Amaysim 365 day expiry Pay-as-you-go. I know that Aldi 365 is cheaper (only $5 per year) but they don't have eSIM.

    • +1

"I know that Aldi 365 is cheaper (only $5 per year) but they don't have eSIM.""
Aldi payg has changed for at least a year. $5 only for first 2 months, then $15 for a year. It still does not have esim "… coming…"

      • at least that $5/$15 can be used as credit

  • +1

I just bought from Kogan 200GB 365days for $149 if someone just looking for cheaper option

    • +1

I hate Kogan with a seething rage but at that price I may actually make an exception.

  • Kogan does me dirtyy, i got an esim on my phone and randomly even in good areas for recpetion it says no service but for some other people it does them good so im not sure whats going

    • +1

you have a grey import handset?

  • Been with Lyca prepaid for just over 6 months now and here's my take:

    Pros:
    - Straight forward activation
    - Cheap and lots of data
    - Roaming rates are realtively cheap

    Cons:
    - network coverage and speed is average as best, and that's being generous

Will be moving to another provider once this month is over. Anyone have experience with superloop?

    • Where are you finding poor coverage?

  • It's $180 not $175 through Topcashback. One friend wants this for data with new number. Paid already. The website and the payment show the same $180.

If only googling without going through Topcashback, the website shows $175 🤷

    • Thanks, I will change in description. If you go via normal website and use the plugin for shopback you can get $8.

      • Let's see after cashback tracked and get $10 from Topcashback.

  • +1

Cant call 1300/1800 numbers (so most banks and government), No MMS, no deal for me no matter how cheap

  • +1

Zero customer service. You will not get any support if there is any problem during activation and any issue after activation. If there is any issue, the result will be like lost all the prepaid money and get nothing except waste of time on their customer service

  • 100mbps cap.

What speeds are people actually getting?

    • +3

I'm on their 30GB plan without 5G, and I usually get around 75 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload.

      • Impressive. Might be worth a try.

  • Tried to buy a SIM twice. Got a "CONNECTION_TIMEOUT" error both times. They've still charged the card two times.

    • And now two SIM cards have been sent to me.

  • be aware the 1300/1800 numbers & MM calls are not free calls.
also the sim cannot be used in a modem

    see CIS

    • I tried it last month, and it worked in my Telstra 5G modem.

      • when i said "cannot" i really meant "is not supposed to be". ymmv

        Tethering
Tethering is permitted for personal devices only but must not be used in a modem or as a substitute for a home internet service

  • +1

Cant believe, still someone recommend Lyca, it's the company worth nothing, even one dime charge is too expensive for them.

  • -1

    Vodafone network is horrible

  • -1

    Vodafone - no thanks

    • Well I live in Sydney and my kids travel between Sydney South, Strathfield and CBD. No problems at all. One is on Kogan and one on Vodafone.
