Google Pixel XL/Pixel 32GB + Daydream VR Headset $1269/$1079 @ JB Hi-Fi

150

I've been looking for a deal for Google Pixel XL for sometime now but given that they are frequently sold out in Playstore, I guess Google has no reason to discount 'em. So I found the next best thing that I was able to get my hands on, this isn't exactly a discount on Pixel XL per se, instead, they are throwing in $119 Daydream VR headset for free with Pixel XL.

Guess it might not be the deal for everyone but hey, it's alright I guess especially since this is Australian stock and you could potentially claim $115 as GST as well.

Here's the link to Pixel.

Don't forget cashback either!

Further 5% reduction is possible if you use discounted gift cards to purchase JBHiFi gift cards as pointed out by @Trishool

Cheers!

  • Can't you also buy the gift cards and also use them to reduce the overall cost?

    • Thanks for the idea mate, I'll add it to the deal.

      • What gift cards??

  • I'm pretty sure I've seen the free VR for the Pixel, in the past month at JB?

  • too pricy for me. this price is almost double of Zte axon 7 or Galaxy s6. can't feel much difference with them or even oppo r9 plus

    • +2

Yea, it's like paying more gets you something WAY better or something LOL. Considering Oppo R9S is terrible, and looses in almost every category against pixel xl except for cheapness.

Who in their right mind would pay that much for a phone with only 32GB of storage?

    • Especially considering it isn't much better than equivalent flagships like S7 or V20

    • Umm, I don't think you thought that through properly… http://www.apple.com/au/shop/buy-iphone/iphone-7/4.7-inch-di…

      Plenty of people.

Personally, I wouldn't and didn't. I wanted the Pixel and for a few months could not convince myself to pay that much. But, anyone with an iPhone 7 did pay that much for a phone with 32gb of storage.

At least with the Samsung S7 you can add an SD card..

    • How much stuff do you need on your phone?

    • +2

I feel that the 32GB solely exists so that Pixel fans feel more justified purchasing the 128GB version. If there was a middle tier at 64GB, hardly anyone would get the 128GB.

32GB could be do able if you put everything on Google Drive/Photos but nah, too inconvenient.

      • Plus you have to use data to upload all your shit to Drive and then again to retrieve it, adding to the cost.

        • Yea pretty much. I only use them for backup.

      • 128gb xl user here, checks storage….used 28gb of 128gb. Photos and videos on cloud. Have 25gb on Optus plan. Hmmmm….

I bought a xl for my parent. So 32 G is more then enough.
For me, the best selling point is all photo are stored in Google photo in original resolution. I don't need to do anything, delete/backup/restore photo for them.
And I have to say, its camera is the best. Eventually, the only company can beat Apple is still Google.

  • If you can spend that much money anyway, XL is far better in spec.

If you want Daydream VR, Pixel XL is the safest bet. You can go for the cheaper Moto Z, but their confusing line-up of at least 5 phones with that name will surely give you hard time finding out which one to buy.

Stay away from ZTE Axon from Chinese seller. They modified firmware to make it exportable and you won't be able to update from Google. In fact, most of those Chinese sellers are not dare to claim Daydream support in their product description. Yes you can buy from Amazon, but it is not cheap and the cheapest one always come from Russia.

    • If you can spend that much money anyway, XL is far better in spec.

Can you elaborate? Aren't they identical apart from the screen?

  • Where are all the black 128gb XL models? Can't seem to find one anywhere.

    • they are sold out pretty much everywhere mate, bit of a bummer really

      • Sucks. My LG G4 bootlooped and need a replacement soon. Might have to get something else then.

        • My LG G4 bootlooped today such a bummer

        • @Avo: I feel you man, It was such a good phone. I ended up buying an iphone 7 plus. No more LG for me.

Way too much for a phone for me. Decided to settle for S7. Just missed the $100 off JB deal (849). Been watching, hoping they would do it again.
They've just put it UP $200 to $1149!! How's that for an un-deal?

    • It's funny as we have S7's for work, and I bought the Pixel XL as my personal phone. Day to day use the Pixel is what a google phone should be. The S7 is a great phone, but day to day use it has nothing on the pixel. You do get what you pay for though. Even wear and tear over the last 6 months, the S7's are showing considerable wear especially on the home button which makes it look terrible.

    • JB back to $949 for S7 must have been a glitch.
Yep, Pixel XL is definitely the better choice, but for at least $300 cheaper, i'll have to settle for s7.

  • iphone 7 vs XL

  • this or Oneplus 3T ? any 3T users?

    • this all the way if money is no objection

  • Gutted! Just bought a Pixel from JB a week before this free offer. Reckon they'll give me a Daydream View if I take the receipt in??!

    • probably? it'll be at their discretion though, no harm in trying right? :D

      • So, to update here, yeah, tried it, and they did it for me! Picked it up yesterday.

  • FYI they are still honouring this deal even though it officially ended Friday.

There are still advertisements at the front of the store at Doncaster and Nunawading in Victoria
