  • How did you find this 'catchupdeals' section? is there anything else?

    • Somehow - it go directed from the main page (sold-out deal for 2X2TB WD HDD)

      • thanks I was hoping they'd also have some more of the i3 processers or H55 boards :)

        • Hi oompa - I wish also

I emailed PricesEngine (and also Minniewe) if this is possible
Anything you can do please Minniewe?

  • This is not a catchupdeals. It's just a reference for your guys that the 2TB HD can work with this NAS case.

Just an idea of using those 2TB HD.

    • Thanks Minniewe

BTW - I copied you an emailed today, thought I'll get an extra favour :-)

    • So no i3's or H55 boards :)

      • I haven't heard back from Minniewe or PricesEngine Customer Service yet…
        Fingers Cross…

    • smart using cheap products to onsell other products ;)

  • If you are to use this with WD2EARS:
    Read:
    http://www.qnap.com/pro_compatibility.asp

    Note10
For NAS products, must upgrade to NAS v3.2.5 firmware or later versions, backup the data to another location, and then follow the guide to re-initialize the HDDs to adopt the WD Advanced Format Technology. Currently this hard drive model is not available to NVRs.

  • Bought one of these in December last year for about $330(inc Shipping). Great little device for a first time server/NAS user. I have mine running as my media server(to TV, PS3, iPhone and iPad), Data Storage and 24/7 torrenting machine. Works a treat and is whisper quiet. I've almost filled its current storage though(1.5Tb) so looking to upgrade to 2 x 2Tb drives soon. Also, pitty it only comes in white and doesn't look anywere as hardcore as some of the other NAS's offered by QNAP. :P

  • I'm holding out until an Australian retailer does a good deal on a Synology DS210j or better still DS410j NAS.

People should also read this regarding WD Green Drives and LLC SMART counter rates going nuts on UNIX-based NAS:

  • Deal was put up to entice people for the 2 x 2TB HDD deal me thinks, price isn't that great for this Qnap.
