      • I had to take it out of the box to fit in the sedan. I had the longest columns running through the boot into the car with the back seat removed.

At least I could get rid of the cardboard at the stores dumpster instead of trying to do something with it at home 😀

Not a bad price but it doesn't come with the mirror and I don't lift without a mirror.

    • +5

Just set up a webcam and go Facebook live. You can then show all your friends how much you can lift while watching yourself on the screen enjoying those floating likes.

    • Selfie mode.

  • 57kg (will require two people to carry item)

    ALDI logic……

    • +3

clever marketing tactic. twice the foot traffic.

      • Lol, what if they are really weak and can't lift the item?

        • +7

          3 people then

        • Get Aldi staff to lift it. They are usually strong.

        • Ask staff for help and they'll provide you with a flat trolley.

          @ms:

They claim the CEO prevent them to help customer to lift as it could potentially result in a workcover case.

    • +5

a box could be 10kgs and youd struggle to lift, it all just depends on the shape

      • +20

Sounds like you need to improve your strength with an ALDI pull-up squat rack.

        • +1

but how can you improve your strength if you can't lift the ALDI pull-up squat rack to take home in the first place?

        • you have the time between the purchase to taking it to your car dontcha

      • yes, if all 6 sides are longer than your armspan then you are pretty stuffed.

        • unless you have marfan syndrome

  • +1

C'mon do you guys even lift?

  • +1

I can't speak for this product specifically but A++++ for this equipment in a home gym. Spend a bit of money on the bench (without any leg attachments preferably), hit up gumtree for the weights and you're laughing.

    • +3

What if I don't laugh afterwards?

      • +9

        Aldi 60 day refund

edit: I don't think you can return the six pack though ;)

  • +1

    Yeah buddy!

    • +4

Lightweighttt. Ain't nuthing but a peanut!

      • +7

Errybody wants to be a bodybuilder but nobody wants to lift no heavy ass weights!

  • Guessing these aren't covered for "commercial" use. Wonder how many home business PTs will buy these

  • +1

This is a great deal - wish I had an ALDI. Even second hand on gumtree these racks sell for more than $200

  • Could anyone comment it there are still stock in any way the SA stores? I can't find their phone numbers online. I won't be able to pick one up til after 6pm.

Or if someone would like to purchase one first got me to me know. I'll be there to compensate you for your time.

    • +1

Aldi don't have direct lines to each store (well at least in Melbourne). It's a luck of the draw with their specials. You CAN get lucky sometimes, if you call their head office and ask how many got delivered to stores nearby, but sometimes they won't give that out

    • +1

There were a few at ttp, they aren't on the floor as they are too big.

  • +4

    Weight Capacity: 300kg

    :(

    • +5

Do you actually squat more than 300? And I mean to depth, not this 1/4 squat garbage you see in commercial gyms.

      • +3

        Lol @ all the neggers.

Far out guys, he's just joking!

      • +19

He was referring to the weight capacity of the pull up bar.

        • 300kg pull up is monstrous. I'd kowtow to anyone who could do it

    • Obviously you just need to buy two then.

    • I assume this is a joke but to those who don't lift: 300kg capacity on a squat rack is ample. If you can squat 300kg and are under 110kg you're in takes-years-to-achieve-this-you-might-be-able-to-break-a-record shape.

      • 350kg is more like it for 110kg. If you're under 75kg and squatting 300 then you're actually elite.

        • Not world records. But if you cut 5kg you'd be at Aussie raw record levels.

  • Any more experienced gym people able to comment on the safety of cheap equipment like this? I've been told you buy a decent rack for safety and go cheap on the plates.

    • +2

Yes. It's safe & I would say very comfortably you/me/everyone on here won't do more weight than it can handle…EVER.

Also, but plastic-coated weights from Aus DB COmpany..so they dont click clack around (if u r in vic).

      • Says rated for $300kg. I assume that means at rest. If you squat 150kg can it handle the force if you drop the bar on the safety rack? The force might be equivalent to 300kg barbell at rest. Serious question.

        • If you squat 150kg can it handle the force if you drop the bar on the safety rack? The force might be equivalent to 300kg barbell at rest.

That depends on how the bar is dropped. But if a 150 kg bar was dropped on the spotters from a few cm it'd apply a much greater force than the weight of 300 kg.

300 kg is likely a figure arrived at using unknown safety factors. And it could be the capacity of the pull up bar or of the safety spotters.

It would be nice to see one of these in the flesh.

Just use common sense with this. Set the spotters just below depth and don't try to set any crazy 1RM PRs. Dumping the bar isn't great for the rack, the bar or your body, and you own this equipment!

    • +1

Great deal. Looks like this model, http://www.flexequipment.com.au/armortech-squat-rack-pk41. Half racks like these are very safe, particularly due to the safety bars on the side.

    • Looks fine. Buy a decent bar and bench. Cheap out on plates

  • I would definitely be picking this up (not literally, I’m only one man) if I had the space in my house for a personal gym. You really just need the rack, a bar and some weights to get going if you’re not a hardcore bodybuilder. The olympic barbell Aldi sells weighs only 16kg though, I’m used to using a 20kg weight.

  • +1

    I have the

  • I saw this the other night and went on ebay just to see what else was out there. Ended up getting this one instead: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/291992868183 mainly to do pull ups and dips. They had the $20 discount the other night too, but even without it, this one's still cheaper than the aldi one.

    • +5

The ALDI one is better, your one has an inbuilt bench with no safety bars, it's fine for really light weights but the entire thing is built the wrong way around, you bench is supposed to sit between the frame not extend out from it.

      • Wasn't going to use the bench tbh, but thank's for the tip. I'll probably just leave the bench disconncted from the setup.

      • For pull ups and dips it should be fine. Would never do squats or presses on it though.

  • Too big for my unit.

What the subtitle exercise for pull up ??? Is it targeting shoulder and chest ?

    • -1

      lolwut

chinup is a back exercise. Specifically lats

    • +2

      Not sure if trolling or…

In case you're not. Substitute exercise for pullups would be bent over or pendlay rows, dumbell rows etc. Or if you go to a gym, the seated rows. All types of rows. Even deadlifts. Pullups target the upper back and rear shoulders. The exercises I mentioned do as well.

If you want to target shoulders and chest you would do bench press, overhead press, side lateral raises, front raises, flys etc

      • Sweet thanks, probably take a pass on this deal

Got a Bench, 2 barbell, and quick 48kg adjustable dumbbells and outdoor bicycle - Suffice for a Home Gym

Save me the cost of going the gym.

  • Or you could give building one of these a go:

  • +1

I don't get people who work out at home. Where do you draw motivation from if there's no strangers around 'mirin your pump? Do you go for a strut around the neighbourhood afterwards or something?

For the benefit of everyone at my gym, I think I'll have to skip this and stick with my membership. Decent price though.

    • That's exactly why I don't go to the gym. Too many shows offs, it's intimidating and immature. That and all the bacteria…

      • +1

As long as they're not getting in the way of your workout, why would you care? If you aren't bigger/stronger than them or using horrible form, they won't look at you anyway.

  • +1

Tree in the backyard does the job. Downside is mosquito bites in the Winter..

  • Opinions please.
Can I combine this rack with an F.I.D bench such as this one? Thanks

    • +1

Yes, add the barbell and weights and you have the equipment for the powerlifting staple lifts.

  • Any way to check whether ALDI store near my place has it or not?

    • +1

From my expeirence, no can do…

Just have to go to each Aldi and check the stock.

Aldi is build on frugality foundation, there no customer service

  • Great deal, gym gear usually holds value to.

    • +2

      Value to what?

      • That's lame. Is that you JV ?.

  • Does anyone know if the bench they are selling for $60 can be used with this?
Can't tell in the picture if it can be used as a bench for bench press…

    • +5

No, it's a sit up bench.

      • Are you sure? Looks like it might have legs that fold out?

        • Doesn't look like it does on both ends.

        • Yes, I used to own a sit up bench like that. You can see that the legs are as skinny as the guys in my gym.

You can get a flat bench delivered from ebay for not much more, though I'd be wary if considering to buy an adjustable bench (flat/incline/decline) without looking at it first a it can be wobbly

        • @hippocrit:

Hmmmm yep. I picked one up yesterday (ALDI Ferntree Gully had heaps of everything at 5:30pm. About a dozen benches, 8 racks, a dozen Oly bars) and I don't think I will keep it. I think I would prefer to invest in a true quality adjustable bench.

  • Anyone bought one? What's the quality like?

    • +18

I purchased one earlier this afternoon - the quality looks very solid, I'm fairly happy with it. I would also have been fairly happy with the instore pickup HAD IT NOT BEEN 40 RUDDY DEGREES OUT THERE TODAY!

To make matters worse the packaging is huge guys - uuuuuuuuuuuuge. We had a Land Rover and we COULD NOT fit it inside in any way shape or form. Instead we had to borrow their (Aldi's) trolley and Stanley knife, unpack it outside of the car and try to Tetris each of the individual pieces to fit inside in a manner that wouldn't land us a fine if the Five-O happened by. Took us about 30 minutes lol

On the bright side, the act of purchasing and loading the pull-up rack was such a rigorous workout in itself that I'm now fully ripped bro, furthermore under the sweltering heat I lost close to 30 pounds, so in the end we returned it as it was no longer required.

      10/10 would buy again.

      • Haha I did the same thing in the carpark outside aldi yesterday, putting those tetris skills to good use to fit it into a suzuki swift! Though I admit if the po-po saw my rear visibility they might not have been too impressed ..

  • Looks to narrow for me

  • +1

can't do a decent pull up on that thing…

  • Isn't 211cm too low for the average person to extend their arms?

    • I was about to ask if you were a 185cm and over if this thing would be ok for chin/pull ups. Or will I have to pull my legs up?

      • You should be bending your knees anyway yeah? That's how we do them at the gym. Feet crossed and bent behind you.
It's also the correct method for beginners who also use a fitness band for assisted chin-ups.

  • +2

Been in the market for a squat rack for a couple of weeks. Keeping an eye on eBay and gumtree until I saw this in aldi catalogue last week.
For the price, thought definitely worth a shot.

Definitely need ute or trailer to pickup. Or dismantle and drive home with bars hanging out the window.

Took about 15 mins to set up. You need two adjustable shifters or 19mm sockets.

Great for pull-ups. I weigh ~90kgs and this thing is solid. It's actually perfect height because my garage roof is low, I tuck my legs but keep them stiff.

Also used it to hook up the suspension system (aka. Fake TRX). Works great. Overall would recommend.

    • Probably a stupid question, but why 2 adjustable shifters? Isn't one enough?

      • +1

There is one bolt (need a shifter to hold/screw it in) and one nut (need a shifter to hold it).

    • +1

A few days in, I can say that this thing is pretty good.
The horitzontal distance is short though, just means if you are squatting, there isn't heaps of room for error - like a commercial gym one, which has longer 'arms'(?).

Also, consider a bracket or something to bolt it to the ground if you are considering using for TRX or suspension system, as it can tip forward.
Might look at bunnings for a square U-Bracket. Will post back if I find something.

Quickly saw ppl sale one "unboxed" on gumtree for 275,wtf, give some excuse "it doesn't fit to his property". Sorry for my words. Of course you got way to make your money but plz make sure show the buyer your invoice cause your reason to sale is not for money but "no room to fit" as you mentioned in ad.

  • There are 2 left at Heidelberg aldi.

  • At least 6 at Forest Hill Aldi.

  • Got one from aldi rouse hill yesterday. Asked a staff for help but he said they can't help customer outside of store. So I carried and fit in my car myself.
There was one left at rouse hill store and 4 left at kellyville store.
