  • If you are not a Telstra Mobile customer, you can just sign up to CrownBet (and probably the other online betting agencies as well) and get to stream AFL/NFL/Selected Horse Racing etc for free that way. As a bonus, you will also get $50 which you can cash out with no issues.

Spot on, but you're still being metered for usage.

      • I'm not a Telstra customer so not a big deal for me but getting free $50 as well as streaming my AFL live is. The title seemed to be different as well so may only attract Telstra customers now. Before it would have grabbed people wanting free AFL streaming. My comment was a bit more relevant then.

        • can you direct me on the crownbet app to where i get AFL live ?

          cannot find it anywhere.

        • @vjknight: on the crown bet app - when the games are on, you can click an option where the game streams to your phone within the crown bet app itself

        • so only when the games are on…ok

        • @vjknight:

When else would you want it?

        • @Krish:
other providers have a button which dont work yet.

Spot on, but you're still being metered for usage.

Not if you use Telstra broadband at home.

        • +1

CrownBet is unmetered for Telstra home broadband customers?

Beware being able to "cash out" on betting websites. Many sites offer bonus bets and matched deposits, yet you are often required to bet the bonus amount at certain odds before you can withdraw it. They're sneaky companies with many, many rules so be careful if you do decide to deposit and bet.

      • Agree. It if you are careful you can actually minimize your risk. E.g. I bet the minimum of $25 for the Patriots to win Super Bowl 51 at 1.67 odds. As a bonus I got $5 in crown signature points for every touchdown my team made. At the end of the day I won the bet ~$41 less $25 as well as an extra $25 in my Crown signature points.

        • +3

Lol @ minimise the risk on the Patriots. That was a close one ;)

        • They scored 4 touch downs so u only for $20 in points. I know cos I had the same bet on

        • @Gavman: Weird because I didn't get the money and so did a online chat with Crownbet yesterday and they said they would credit me 2500 points which is $25 worth. I just checked my account and saw it was all credited. Must have gotten lucky with the bonus.

        • @danielh: looks like u got an extra 500.

    • Boo. No nrl :(

    • +1

I think u also need to place a bet now and again to be able to stream

      • na you only ned minimum $5 funds in your account

        • if I put in minimum $5, what sports do they stream for free?

        • @dingdong3000: i only use Crownbet for AFL. NBA i use William Hill, NHL i use Sportsbet, Cricket and EPL i use Optus…its really endless

    • Old post but if you have a friend who has s Telstra sim, just put it in your iPhone (never tried with Android) and 'activate' the AFL Live app and then swap the sim chips back. Your usage is still metered but at least you can watch the games live.

Should change title to : Telstra mobile customers, way it reads now sounds like AFL pass is free for any Telstra customers

    • +1

      Thanks, done.

  • +3

What about Telstra resellers like Boost and Aldi?

    • +3

Why is this negged? It's a legit question.

    • +1

Telstra customer = you must have a Telstra account with your mobile.

  • -5

if the service does not fail.

  • Thanks mate.

  • All Telstra Mobile Customers

That's a bit misleading as it will most likely exclude Telstra Mobile broadband customers…

    • 'Most likely'. Thanks for clearing that up jv ;)

      • Past offers have excluded them

      Another dud comment from hardya

      • -1

Yup. Been here since 2011 and hasn't posted a single deal. Opinion therefore is worthless.

  • -2

Cool but who in god's name watches sport on a tablet?

    • +1

I watch games that aren't televised or the second game if there's two on at one time.

  • What (idiot proof) options are there for streaming AFL to the TV? This is for my 82 year old grandmother. Currently she uses Foxtel IQ2 but I was considering Foxtel Play on a Telstra TV which can be shared with another Telstra TV as well and is slightly cheaper.

I considered an Android TV box but this needs to be dead simple to use. I have tried Chromecast from an Android but the picture quality is terrible and stuttering, even in close range to WiFi.

    • +1

I would stick with the IQ2. For simplicitys sake you're better off sticking with what she knows.

Screencasting with my network doesn't give me any stuttering really, but audio is noticeably out. Which doesn't matter too much with sport.

  • Aldi work?

    • Doubt it

    • No tried, boost might

  • Does this work even if you have no credit on your account?

    • +1

Think on pre paid u need to maintain a 30$ recharge each month

  • Can it be redeemed from one mobile service then attached to another Telstra account like last year? I've got bigpond but not telstra mobile.

  • Does anyone have a spare code? It's so annoying that it only applies to Telstra mobile customers and not broadband as well

  • Is it also unmetered if I watch the videos in the app (like highlights)?
