Legend of Zelda Breath of The Wild Collectors Edition Game Guide $36.69 Delivered @ Book Depository

140

Hi,
Piggyback game guides announced in December they would do 3 guide editions for the BOTW release - Paperback, Collectors edition- hardcover & Deluxe Collectors edition.
The guides went up on Amazon etc in late January however they were promptly taken down as they believed the summary description revealed spoilers.
The guides have only just been re-listed and are not up on EBGames website yet. EB usually would list a guide like this for $60-$70 if you compare it to other major guide releases they do. (Amazon are selling for $40USD + post)

The Collectors Edition which is a nice looking hardcover is listed on Book despository currently at 10% off at $36.69 - all orders have free shipping too.

The standard paperback edition is also available at a very fair $22 (also 10% off)

Unfortunately there is no word on the deluxe collectors edition at this present time. I am monitoring amazon, reddit, book depository and other sites so hopefully I can add it here too when its up. They will definitely not last long.

  • Still convinced they release these with every game as a joke.

I usually only buy them as a collectors item and only for large iconic games. Forget about assassins creed or uncharted - those are a joke to need a guide for.
But final fantasy, Zelda, xenoblade - I am happy to add to my shelf.

        large iconic games

Forget about assassins creed or uncharted

        Are you on crack?

        • He is not saying hose are the large iconic games, read his post again. He is saying titles like FF and Zelda. Which I completely agree with, that's the games I buy guides for and only the collectors guides.

        • i could have worded that better. those games are fairly linear is what i should have said.

@dwhes: One is a legendary genre-defining series, so overwhelming that we've seen what 30 games in the span of a decade? The other has won hundreds of awards and has stuck to its guns as being a console exclusive. I'd hardly say they're not iconic :)

      • I have a Diablo II strategy guide. Interested?

    • They have good resale value if unopened. And if it's a collector's edition or limited edition that will go out of print.

By resale, I mean, you can sell it for 4X the cost you paid.

I know, I just paid 180 for a brand new sealed A link between worlds collectors edition guide. It was way too much but it was the only one I dont have in my collection and I am justifying it as a birthday present to myself haha.

The only guide I've ever owned was for San Andreas and I bought it mostly because it was 5 bucks and looked like a fun read.

In terms of actual help though, it offered nothing. It detailed the cars and shit but didn't even cover basic shit like spawn points for the cars or triggers for them or anything. Honestly, online guides have been the go for ages now, and with YouTube and the sort, video guides are even better.

Edit: That being said, I bought my guide because it looked pretty, and the Zelda guide looks pretty pretty, so aesthetically, it's a nifty thing to have.

    • Yeap Zelda guides looks real sick.

    • My daughter loves the Skylanders Guides. Heaps of great artwork that she copied and pasted around our home. Some came with free stickers. And oh yeah, they helped her explore every centimetre of the game. She's one of those gamers that refuses to finish a level without picking up everything.

So these guides have a use for some.

I could see them being of use for kids actually, that's a good point. I remember how stoked I was when I finally 100%'d Lego Star Wars II in the day and I totally would have used a guide if I had access to it.

But back then, I was like 10 and had a PS2 for a year or two, I wasn't anywhere near the level I am now with games.

As good and convenient as these could be for kids though, it's like, what kid has 50 odd bucks to spend on a guide for a game that's already charging probably at least as much?

        • These guides are very expensive. Sure there's a lot of work that goes into them but I find $50 too much. The guides I've purchased have all been on sale $20~30.

But back when I was a kid there was no such thing as a guide. You had to figure things out yourself (were where all the rings for Sonic, which pipes should Mario go down etc). Or you had to rely on word of mouth; you'd ask your friends who better a game than you.

These days I'm glad you can buy a guide to help you!

@sillywalks: I remember buying a kid in grade four a bottle of Lift and some donuts after I gave him my memory card for the night so he could beat Mysterio in Spider-Man 2 for me. Haven't thought about that in ages.

Sometimes I miss shit like that, I pretty well got in at the last chance for word of mouth and local co-op games. I got my PS2 for Christmas '04 and was using it as my main thing all the way up to Sept 2011. So much Tony Hawk local sessions, and I remember sharing around my save in San Andreas and shit too.

God damn it, now I wanna buy this guide just to be reminded of the past. You might say I'd use it as a Link, to the Past. Heh.

        • @TheDukeOfNukem:

"A bottle of Lift and a donut."

          Well worth the price!

          Great story. Thanks for sharing.

  • Cheers op. Been waiting for this to come up. My FF XV collectors guide arrived about a week after release. Hopefully this is the same.

It says will be published in 2050!

    • Yep, start counting down…

      12073
      12072
      12071…

    • Perhaps they're anticipating another release date slip or two for Breath of the Wild

  • Hmm wondering why they don't match the styling of the others :( my anal obsessive collecting isn't being helped here!

    • The deluxe edition which isn't listed yet does

      • Seems bigger though…. not the normal A4ish size.
