Optus iPhone 4 **Two Free Months** When You Sign up Online

400

As above if you sign a new 24 month contract with optus on from your third month you will receive a credit to the equivalent of two months access FREE (59 cap you will receive a 118 dollar credit) this along with already good caps seems like the best deal. This is a bargain as its rare that just by signing up online you receive 2 months FREE (excluding handset repayments). After much research I found this to be the best offer as on the 59 and 79 you also get unlimited calls to all optus numbers (including video chat).

this isn't a barg… oh wait this is a good deal

    • +1

good deal. Effectively $54/mth for $550 credit and 2GB data.

but could you explain why $44/mth for $300 credit and 300MB data is so much worse? i'm insulted!

      • +1

I'm insulted you didn't vote positive on my Telstra deal (I voted positive on your Virgin deal)… LOL :P

        • +1

haha. anytime, is backscratching time. though honestly needing an abn is offputting to me, whom doesn't have one.

      • yeah your deal is just as good this guy doesnt know anything

      • aww, there there ;)

mostly ppl saying "normal" or "everyday" price then not providing anything to back their claim. Otherwise them saying iBhone4 sux.

        Just ignore them (-.-)

  • Not bad deal, but on backorder…
quick question, when process the order online, do we need to put in the promotion code for the 2 month free access offer??

    • The 2 months free access offer is available to everyone, no need to use codes. You only have to order it online - not in Optus store.

Too bad you won't get to use up all the quota cos the Optus 3G network is crap. :)

But seriously, the Optus 3G network is rubbish.

    • +3

      Gah! I know!
I want my plan to end so I can get on the Next G network with Telstra!

It's like being offered access to a reservoir of water that is trickle fed through a straw that is randomly being pinched closed.

      • Amen Brother

    • Could i ask which areas you guys used it in?

I've been on virgin internet for the past three month, and used up the 1GB free internet every time. In the st george area.

I agree its not fast enough for video… But its been good for every thing else for me. Few drop outs. 1500kbps just now. I should test again during a working day lol.

And before you flame me, i have a telstra modem too. Its not THAT much better…

      • Optus 3G is more of a hit and miss depending on where you are…most of the time, it's a miss.

  • Is it only valid for the 16gb one? I can't seem to choose the 32gb model.

  • While I don't have access to a Telstra 3G connection for comparison, I've actually found the Optus 3G not to be too bad. This was through use of unofficial tethering, and the speeds were perfectly reasonable for web browsing. However, this was just at my house in the suburbs - I'm guessing others have an issue with coverage (which I do sometimes also) and speeds (but I feel that speeds are reasonable, and that perhaps limitations may be hardware limitations).

  • I personally get 3-4mbits/s with optus which is pretty reasonable. Not sure about the actual speeds on nextg.

    • Just ran 2 tests on the "speedtest" app (iphone) and got 6300kbits/s and 5954kbits/s. That's actually pretty outstanding.

      • which area is this?

        • Western suburbs of Sydney in 2176 postcode area.

  • And… nothing for Vodafone users. Sheesh I might as well sign up with Optus.

  • I'm no iPhone hater, I use an iPhone 3G myself.

Yesterday, my mate got the iPhone 4. We both are with 3.

He had no reception at my place on his iPhone4 and I had 3 bars on my iPhone 3G.

    Go figure.

For those who just need the iPhone4, this is a good deal.

  • optus is fine if you have reception but generally i find with comparisons it's better than vodafone but still not there with telstra.
so if data is important to you and you never use your iphone at home on a wifi connection and optus reception is fine, then go for this.

also remember the iphone 4 reception stuff. we were testing an iphone 4 against some others at work and it had no reception issues with telstra, couldn't get the reception to drop. but in our office it only had 3 bars compared to a 3g not patched, which had full. although everyone i talk to these days thinks since 4.0.1 the reception is hardly ever at full. but i imagine if the reception issues do exist, it is because of poor networks. something USA is full of. In australia telstra would be the only network that is considered of a high standard, so you may run into issues with the networks that have already been reported to drop significantly in performance since the introduction of 3g and 3gs the past 2 years.

  • out of stock at the moment :(

    • 4 ish week wait…

  • Not sure if this applies to online but all Optus dealers have been ordered to stop taking rainchecks on the iPhone 4 so they can focus on filling the current orders.

  • How does Optus do credit check online? or after you place the order, they will call you?

  • How is it like signing phone online? Never done this before..
Is it safe? is like entering into a contract online..
Sounds different to me.. what is the different from walking into a shop?

    • Make sure to take screenshots of all the offer details. I signed up with Optus last year with their 3GS promotion and if it wasn't for those (and a million phonecalls to their 'help' line) none of the bonuses would have been given.

The application process is no different from using a shop, besides the lack of human interaction :)

    • +1

you can call the optus, they will include the 2 month free. That's what I did!

      2month free+1month backorder

  • 3mobile has a pretty good deal also, not as good as Optus' i think, unless you've got friends and family on 3 and want extra free calls to them. Or, you want a network with better speed and connectivity.

    $54 per month:-
    $450 worth of calls (Optus = $550)
    Free 3 to 3 calls
    1.5gb data (Optus = 2gb)

    drops to $49/mth after 24mths.

  • Why buy iphone 4 now? there is a big issue in this batch. LOSING CONNECTION!!! buy next batch!!! this is the reason why apple is offering FREE PLASTIC COVER

    • When did you find out?

I personally think the flaw is too fundamental to fix easily in design, so a revision may never arrive. If the antenna was aluminium they could anodise it to achieve electrical insulation. However its stainless steel, so theyll need some sort of surface coating, such as teflon. Anyhow, unlikely.

      • What if they change the antenna to aluminium? Could be done for iphone 4.2, and release before Xmas.
They need to do something about the glass panels too, a bunch of reports of shattering from mild drops.

    • You do realise that American use different Frequency for mobiles and are stuck with AT&T, Australian version have no issues.

      • Thats not true. We have better signal in metro areas compared to the states, thus masking the problem. The fundamental issue is still there, ans doesnt change with different frequencies of operation.

If you go to an area of fringe reception, the same issue occurs

  • The website has changed from "Backorder" to "Out of stock" now and you can only register your details. Oh well, I'm not in a rush!

  • I managed to sign up a contract on Sunday morning. Waiting to collect my new Iphone4.

Has anyone receive their Iphone4 yet?
