Suit for $64 @ Target (in-Store)

570

Complete suit for $64, reduced from $108. Most jackets are now $39 and trousers $25. Equivalent of a $300 suit, can't go wrong even if worn until it's time to dry clean, highly recommend them.

Thanks to railspider some of them can be found online https://www.target.com.au/c/clearance/men/businesswear/W6785… and maybe combined with $20 off if you spend $99+….

Is this all stores, or a specific store?

    • +1

Ive been to 2 Victorian stores (brimbank and werribee) and both had the reduction.

      • south yarra VIC has had them reduced for a couple of months I'd say

    • Target Rhodes had it as well, albeit a smaller selection out front and also pants are $15.

  • +4

    how much polyester in this?

    • If you don't live in it and in the heat then poly is fine. Beats spending hundreds for something you hardly wear.

      • +7

        Poly is never fine

        • +2

A polyester dinner suit is best for B&S balls. It allows that degree of devil-may-care carefreeness that you can never achieve if wearing Anthony Squires, and as they say, you are not there for the woodchop.
The only downside is that if you are little tardy with cleaning après event, white mould can quickly develop all over it. Damned if I know what the little microbes are feeding on, and I thought generous application of alcohol would deal with them, but sadly not.

There's a lot of bodily fluids splashed about at those B&S events. A significant percentage of attendees maintain a permanently elevated alcohol level, so any critters inherited from them will have developed a strong tolerance!

A slight upgrade on my trashy suit t-shirt.. Only slight mind you.

        • @airzone:

I wonder if you could wear both at once, for a kind of 'layered' effect, like what is popular in women's fashion?

        • +3

@llama: I would worry that with this attire and a mullet, I might find my sister to be irresistible.

        • @airzone:

Maybe we could do a double date - if I bring a slab, I could woo her mum as well.

        • The inception suit

Geez, it's like you're a storywriter for some online distribution companies :D

How is this equivalent to a $300 suit?

    • +3

On par with YD and Ed Harry $300 suits.

      • +5

        You're comparing them to YD $300 suits…
What about the 250$ suit sales at Peter Jackson? Target quality will have absolutely nothing on those suits I assure you about that.

      • -2

Equivalent of a $300 suit, can't go wrong

On par with Kmart $69 suits, not $300 ones

And definitely not on par with YD and Ed Hardy.

        • +13

isn't ed harry / YD just $69 suits with their $200 premium on top?

        • +2

@xEnt: Is Ed Harry like Tarotrash? Just checked their online site… "Premium polyester"…hahahahaha

OK. The target ones are no doubt of the same calibre as yd/Tarocash/Connor etc, without the slim fit variants and absolute joke of a price tag.

        • +1

YD is wildly overpriced for what they should be punching at. It's why the stores always have 60% off sales. The best polyester money can buy.

I have vision of a formal Ozbargain get together - lots of guys wearing cheap suits ……. ;)

    • I'm sure if you get it tailoredd properly, you couldn't even tell if it was a $60 vs a $300

      • +2

        Can't imaging getting a $60 suit tailored.
Unless maybe somewhere in Bangkok or HK.
A tailor made suit is fantastic, but expensive.
And of course, these the question of material used.

Anyway, I just can't get the image of a bunch of guys in ill fitting suits out of my head :)
And no offence. I could be one of them…

        • Pretty sure he means, if you get a $60 off-the-rack suit altered. Even then, poly looks different from wool or cashmere, and failing that, just pinching a sleeve will reveal price it.

      • I'm sure if you get it tailoredd properly, you couldn't even tell if it was a $60 vs a $300

Maybe you couldn't tell, but everyone around you will certainly notice the nasty quality fabric. LOL

        • -1

Not sure why you were negged.

Fine wool blended fabrics vs poly, even when tailored, will be easy to discern. The "fall" of the material is one very easily tell-tale, as well as the way it behaves when it needs to wrinkle (e.g. when lifting your arms or even simply walking)

LOL came to this thread for the comments, not disappointed

      • I'm not paying for that… We'll have to wait till the next KFC open kitchen and score a free feed.

    • Nice shoes did you get them from the recent Iconic sale?

      • Bought them overseas but very comfy shoes!

    • +1

      Looks great!
Maybe a slightly bigger size jacket might look even better, or it may because your arms are raised.
      Regardless, point taken.
      The Target suits look fine.

      • Haha good pick up, the jacket was 2 sizes smaller so ended up getting a size 38, indeed a fine suit :)

    • +2

      Looking good!

    • Look ok, but feel the pant is slightly bigger, thigh part.

    • +2

should've left the shoes on, they would go great with the suit ;)

    • +1

Shame the tag is on the outside. Might make the job interview a little awkward.

    • Yeah - you look like the kind of man i'd like to spend some time with…

      • +9

I don't even know how to respond to this, i mean where do you start?

        • +7

          Just ignore it. Peace.

        • -8

It's a comment about the suit, nothing personal.

I had assumed you're not like the girl who asks "Do I look fat in this dress?", where replying with "no" creates tears and a response of "That means you're saying I look fat in other clothes"?

          1. Be aware that I've seen these suits, and I've seen how cheap and nasty they look in real life. The fabric is really quite awful.

          2. I buy almost 100% of by business clothes from Target. The shirts are excellent. The pants are pretty damn nasty.

        • +4

@llama: I've seen your comments, and i cannot unsee them!

      • Oh i dunno - i think he looks kind of raffish, in a cute rogue-ish kind of way.
The kind of guy who'd be ready to go in an instant in isle 8 at Coles.

I don't even know how anyone could start to respond to what i've just said…

      • Are you a child? Seriously ROFL? I think writing ROFL and LOL makes you look immature.

    • Well I reckon it looks pretty good despite that last comment. Certainly doesn't strike me as a <$100 suit at all! What do I know though, just a chick who LOVES guys in suits, seen plenty of suits, have a good idea about what fits and looks good etc… :)

  • +2

Limited sselection of sizes at these prices available on their website

    • +4

I think it looks fine. But then again I wear t-shirts that are 2 sizes too small for me, and only bring out my formal thongs for bingo night at the pub.

    • +2

Well you're an Ozbargainer, Orpheus, are you suggesting you are better and more stylish than the other Ozbargainers?

    • Suit sans marketing?

  • Looks like it has been this price for a few weeks according to pricehipster but thanks for making me aware of it OP!

  • +4

if you add the jacket and matching pant in the same transaction you will get another $9 off brig you the total $55. hope this is help. (although only size 30 available) you can easily exchange for your correct size in the store (if you can find the stock)

    • +2

nice, i bought the items separately hence i didn't get the discount, $55 is unbeatable….

      Q. What do you call a Tasmanian Ozbargainer in thongs?

        Q. What do you call a Tasmanian Ozbargainer's wife?

        A. His cousin.

  • +8

Speaking of grooms, I'm getting married next week, so this is perfect.

    Thanks OP.

    • +1

      I dare you !

    • So, the orgling worked!

    • +2

      Not sure what is worse;

      1) Getting a suit from target for your wedding (actually not too bad if it fits properly)
      2) Waiting until a week prior to get it sorted

      • +2

If you can find me a more organized llama I'll be impressed…

      • 2) Waiting until a week prior to get it sorted

You misunderstand…. this can replace my wedding suit :-)

    • Given my marriage lasted about 3 days I really think this would have been a wise choice

  • -1

Uh theesa suit is NOT BLACK

  • +2

I guess what everybody is trying to asuitain at said price is, does the suit suit target or does target suit the suit? But for those targeting a suit, it just may be worth the pursuit.

  • Not bad for a Halloween costume.

  • Just in time for my next court appearance. Thanks OP

    • +3

Do you ask them if it's me you're looking for?

  • +2

I didn't even know that target sells these suits, let alone this price, thanks OP.

  • +2

    Perfect for Sean Spicer

  • Not too bad from the look of it, if we're talking just another option as part of the work party or work week outfit (at my desk job anyway). Though these generic suits would never fit me well, being the tall skinny type.

        • I thought that might be the case.

  • This is good for $64
I highly suggest Hallensteins if you want a well fitted off the shelf suit for a reasonable price.
I was able to purchase a 100% wool skinny fit suit for $120 NZ which works out to be just over $110 AUD, with one of those mystery code deals they have.

  • Does it come in "fat bastard"?
