  • IWTF

I just looked that acronym up on Urban Dictionary.

  • i assume this is codeshare with another airline?

All on Qantas metal, QF fly direct to PEK from SYD.

great deal. Cheap way to rack up the status credits!

  • oh wow! that's a really great price for a full service airline.

  • QF slot in PEK was quite dreadful.
Arriving into PEK at 10:40 pm local and departure is at 12:15 am

    • I concur, quite dreadful indeed.

    • 10pm-midnight is the usual time I'd be expecting to get into Beijing. This was the timing for the previous connections which went via PVG and HKG. Actually the flight from HKG (it's dragon or cathay I think) is notorious for being delayed too.

But I agree on that departing flight being a killer.

    • Similar story for MEL-HKG-PEK on CX the last few times I've travelled :(

      • You must be travelling from the morning departure from MEL.
You could have get the overnight flight MEL-HKG CX178 and get to PEK at around noon.

  • So many Beijing sale. Anything to do in Beijing

    • Has there… been looking at my first trip to Beijing, but waiting for Cathay Pacific, looks like I missed the Dec sale.

For a long distance flight, I'm not interested in going with a budget airline…. and Qantas fly in time late at night is horrible.

Anyone checked which plane is used for the Qantas Beijing flights?

      • It looks to be QF107 Airbus A330-200.

      • It's an unrefurbished A330-200. The screen is very very small

        • and blurrrr..

    • yes, the smog is nice

    • Worth just for great wall

Any deals for other major cities in China?

    • Just get a bullet train from Beijing. Or internal flight. Both are cheap

  • +10

Remember, even though the fare is low, the Chinese Visa fee is at least $109.50 per person.

    Something to also consider.

    • also to consider is that it's stinking hot that time of year as well as their school holidays so a lot of touristy attractions will be packed

      • There's flights in October/November too if that's an issue.

    • Here we go again

      • What again?

        • People bringing up the cost of the visa. Every single deal to China. Like it's somewhat of a deal breaker.

        • +1

          @tomkun01:

Well it's definitely a factor. It's sorta like seeing a good deal on some gadget but the shipping cost is another 25% of the price.

        • @ronnknee: If so, this deal is equivalent to a dell xps 13 being offered for $500 but you have to pay $100 shipping.

        • @tomkun01:

A bit of a stretch, but sure okay.

        • @ronnknee: how so? these flights are usually around $1000 with qantas

        • @tomkun01: Better than paying $1000 and then the same $100 for shipping.

  • People start to appreciate how much we are paying the Australian Tax?

    • How is that related to the Qantas sale?

      • The amount you pay to fly to BJ and back barely covers the cost of return flight from Syndey to Perth. That's what I mean by "Australian Tax", you pay much more when spending within Australia. And BTW, other airliners have been offering similar price for a long time, though I would prefer Qantas if their price is "right".

  • Will they let you on the flight if you don't have a chinese visa? What if you are just doing a status run and will transit in PEK for the return flight?

By the way how many status points would this flight be worth?
