I know what you mean, but somebody has to pay for the rental on the exhibition space, the guards, etc. Looking at past posts there have certainly been instances where these shows do become free when they are close to the event opening, or it has already opened.
You want to advertise your products, you pay for it
Don't, necessarily, disagree but there are advantages to being able to see a whole bunch of different options in one place and people being setup to talk to you. If they can get people to pay for that, then all power to them. Also, by charging, you are weeding out the people who just want to have a sticky beak rather than people who genuinely want something done and are willing to pony up some dough to investigate. Their show, their rules and we don't have to go if we don't like it.
Sydney show is free
Nothing against this post but these 'shows' should be FREE. It's like paying for something to have the privilege to buy something. Marketing genius really. Been to a fair few of these types of shows and always leave underwhelmed with a few bags of junk and a contribution to the SPAM industry.
