"then I have sold the game on ebay for $90"

      Lying isn't cool.

      • +7

He actually did sell the game for $90

Item location is the same as location set on OzBargain

    • +6

      Pics or it didn't happen.

      • High def bluray quality 2160p video or it didn't happen

      • Here's the link to his eBay listing.

With this new evidence coming to hand I conclude that indeed this poster isn't lying and I hereby apologise for the mistake.

As a community we will endeavour from now on to never make false accusations again based on jealousy or the fact that we were too late to catch the proverbial worm.

        Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya
        Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya
        Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya
        Oh Lord, kumbaya

        Someone's crying, my Lord, kum bay ya;
        Someone's crying, my Lord, kum bay ya;
Someone's crying, my Lord, kum bay ya,
        O Lord, kum bay ya.

        Someone's praying, my Lord, kum bay ya;

Someone's singing, my Lord, kum bay ya,
        O Lord, kum bay ya.

    • For honor being worth $90 is laughable. If you did sell it for that much congrats you got lucky.

      • -1

he sold it for $100 (which even more unbelieveable). Ebay + Paypal fees will bring it to $90

    • +4

What has this got to do with anything?

      Just a brag?

    • -1

Sold it to who? Your mummy?

  • +1

Tempting, but gotta stay strong and hold out for the price drop and bundled game.
Can't wait for the new Red Dead Redemption (would prefer on pc but what evs)

    • RDR2 is scheduled to be released at the end of the year. That's too long of a wait, unless you already got a console. I am new to gaming and Just finished first RDR last Friday. Amazing piece of Work. Really excited about playing as younger John Marston.

      • Younger John Marston? What happened to John Marston???

        • RDR2 seems to be the prequel of RDR (You know what happened to Marston in RDR). I think you will get to play as a member of Dutch's gang. I hope I'll get to kick Edgar's a** in a mission. I Hate that fellow.

    • Would prefer if a Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted and InFamous were on PC as well. Stupid exclusives. :'(

    • I hope RDR 2 is better than one. I think Undead Nightmare was overall more enjoyable then the original RDR.

  • +9

I'm usually an early adopter of new consoles but Im not crazy about this mid gen upgrade personally. I then need to buy a 4K tv to get the most out of it. Once my tv or PS4 carks it this will be the obvious upgrade. Until then I think the base PS4 still gets the job done.

    • +7

The Pro is a worthy upgrade even without a 4K TV. A few games take advantage of the extra power in 1080p, The Last Guardian & Nioh spring to mind. Plus the 'boost' mode coming with the 4.5 system update will make a difference for those games without official patches.

      • A few games hey…enough to downvote my comment. I don't justify spending $500 on a few games with some small enhancements. Thanks for the advice though.

        • +2

Depends on how irritated you get with dips in framerate. It drives some people crazy. For them (and possibly their families), it's a worthwhile upgrade.

The Pro also has faster loading times, better wifi, improved VR performance, and most importantly, an extra USB port! That last point is a system seller. Point being, the Pro is very useful for more than just 4K.

Otherwise, yeah, the standard PS4 still does a great job. If you're happy with it, no real need to change.

        • @deek:

an extra USB port! That last point is a system seller.

          Can you please explain this?

        • +1

@cdestratis: You'll be able to plug a USB HDD into the back of the PS4 Pro for expanded game storage once the new firmware arrives, whereas for the non-Pro you'll need to plug one into the front USB ports, losing the use of one of them for charging controllers etc.

The Pro has quite a few advantages over standard even at 1080p, but if I had already owned a standard PS4 I wouldn't have "upgraded" without a 4K TV first.

        • @cdestratis:
I was being a bit fatuous with that comment, but the extra USB port in the back does make it much nicer to hook up the PSVR. No producing USB cable to external processing unit needs be visible.

        • @NeonKitten:

I know how which ports each console has, I was just curious as to why they thought that one extra USB port was a 'system seller'.

        • @deek:

an extra USB port! That last point is a system seller

I'll sell you my PS4 Slim with 5x USB ports for the bargain price of $499!

          Spoiler… I bought a 4-port USB hub for $12

        • @Xentaq:

With a Pro and that USB hub, it'd be 6x USB ports! How awesome is that!!

      • -2

I wouldn't say "a few games" is a good reason to buy it. We'll see what happens with the boost mode but I won't hold my breathe for meaningful performance increases.

    • +2

You get better framerates and boost mode with the Pro

    • +2

Yup. I got a 4K TV upgrade after I got the Pro (never bought the non-Pro). Best decision I've made since getting a PS3.

    • +2

Yeah, I'm in the same boat as you. If I hadn't already bought a PS4 (or if my existing PS4 died and needed to be replaced) then I'd certainly get the Pro. But having already paid $550 for the PS4, the Pro isn't enough of an upgrade to warrant forking out another $500-550, especially since I don't own a 4K TV.

I'll give it another year or two until the PS5 comes out and probably upgrade to a 4K TV at the same time then.

    • +2

It's so quiet. Even before you get to the hardware improvements and how they carry over to Pro-support games, the fact it doesn't sound like a jet engine even on a slightly warm day was worth the purchase. I cleaned it over and over thinking it was dusty somewhere, but nope.. it just doesn't like the climate, and the small system fan going full bore was ridiculously-noisy.

Nioh's been the only game to actually kick in the PS4 Pro's fan for me, and even then it sounds like a much bigger one they've put in there. It's much quieter, and pushing out a fair bit more air from the back.

    • Couldn't agree more (however I am an early adopter). My mate bought a PS4 Pro for himself for christmas and I honestly cannot see that much of a difference between his Pro and my original. Even with a 4K tv the improvements are negligible at best (graphics are almost the same, though the framerates for some games are improved). I really hate that mid-life improvements (not just slimming down) have now become a thing, we're heading down a path where consoles will die after a few years instead of the current 8 years or more of brand new games. I'll be building a PC once my consoles die as it's not worth buying a new console/tv only to have become obsolete after a couple of years.

    • +8

What about the rest of the computer, hmm…

    • +3

It's like saying "don't but that new Honda… use the money for a BMW engine instead"

      • Buying a high-end graphics card is an investment, just like buying a high-end car. I'm surprised he only suggested the gtx1070, he should buy 4xgtx 1080's, they can only appreciate in value.

  • +4

great deal @OP regardless of opinions on the console it's a bonafide bargain

  • One day after I caved at EB, but traded for Honor instantly for $54 towards my Switch anyway.

    • +4

Should have gotten at least $90 for For Honor.

      • How, by charging people more than it costs regularly? and paying ebay fees in the process?

        • Bro, it's just a joke. Read the first comment at the top of the page.

        • @aja12:

Fair enough :) the negatives hid it…

  • I just bought a 4K TV but still not overly keen on upgrading to the Pro.
I will be getting the Xbox One S though cause it's cheaper and does 4K blurays.
Obviously I won't get 4K gaming out of it but that's fine.

    • +1

The difference in performance between the XB1 and PS4 Pro can be quite large (10+ fps difference with higher quality textures and higher resolution). That said… this is only for a few titles so far, and considering the XB1S can be had for half the price of the Pro I think the One S is a far more tantalising option for many!

      I would only really recommend a Pro is A) you own a 4K TV and B) you don't already own a PS4.

This is coming from someone who owns the Pro and a 4K TV.

      • Yeah I already have a PS4 but I don't use it enough to justify the Pro yet.

    • In that case, it may be worth your while waiting until later this year when the XBox Scorpio (or whatever it ends up being called) comes out, then you'll get 4K gaming and BluRay out of it. Remains to be seen exactly what the performance jump (price tag) will be, though.

      • Nah I already have an Xbox One, so I can sell that for $200 or so with a game, and sell Battlefield 1, making the upgrade price negligible.

        • Yeah man if you can sell the One for that price it's a no brainer! My PS4 was on the fritz so I returned it any paid $80 for a Pro. That's the kind of deal that makes a mid gen upgrae worthwhile, but unless you can swing something like that it's hard to justify.

        • @Poimandres: For sure. I haven't looked into what I could sell my PS4 for but one step at a time!
          Damn 4K is expensive.

    • -4

4K Blurays are a waste of money compared to 4k movie streaming services which are available on PS4.

      • +4

4K streaming and 4K blurays are worlds apart mate.

      • +3

Clearly no idea. UHD Bluray are significantly better.

  • Still doesn't bundle any games…

  • +5

Hmmm, hanging out for the inevitable Horizon+Pro bundle. That may break me… and/or my wallet.

  • I'm still waiting for my 4K gaming monitor with HDR

  • Waiting for a 20% off sale :)

  • +2

Horizon Zero Dawn on the PS4 Pro is nuts. Check out the Digital Foundries 4k technical analysis. It puts the PC Witcher 3 graphic to shame.

  • Anyone got some links to PS4 vs PS4 Pro screenshots on a 1080p TV so I can see if it's worth it as I don't have a 4Ker

    Edit - Found this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3-0xXv0rytI

    http://au.ign.com/videos/2017/02/25/horizon-zero-dawn-graphi…

  • How much can you sell old PS4 on ebay? Seems like some is cheap as $250 but some is more then $350. (No idea why they are exactly same)

    • +2

Pick a price you're happy with a start there. If it doesn't sell, decrease it until it does. List it on Gumtree and some facebook groups too.

    • I sold my original for $400 + postage. Mind you it was very clean, boxed & had a 2TB HDD upgrade.

  • Thx Brought it..Hope its a big difference. But i think I going to get regrets from this.. just like my PSVR and Samsung 4k… disappointed in Both. PSVR motion sickness and 55inch 4k,.need to closeup to see the difference.

    • Yeah, I can barely see the benefits of 4K gaming on my 65" TV because I sit a couple of meters away.
      Happy with 1080p still.

    • 4K is one thing HDR is another. HDR make the colours really pop. Could also be that my old TV had just really washed out images.

  • Waiting for a Big W deal again.

  • +1

Don't care for 4K, but do for higher and CONSISTENT framerate and noise. Do Pro deliver on those?
    Cheers

    • +1

Frame rate -YES , Noise - May be not, some people complained about the ??noise??

    • +1

      Consistent framreate? Yes
      Higher framreate? No

I.e framreate is steady at 30 for games (on original ps4) that were locked to 30. Games that were locked to 60 have the same benefit.

Hardly worth it from a technical standpoint in terms of an "upgrade", as it is an upscaled/checkerboard 4K experience. Noise is improved over the original console.

If you absolutely need the extra ports, those are there too.

If you don't have a PS4 at all, then yes go with this. If you have a PS4 already, it's entirely up to you. You aren't missing anything though.

      • +1

Higher framerate? Depends on the game.

Rise of the Tomb Raider offers an option for higher Pro framerates. I think there's a few other games that do the same, but I can't recall what they are.

  • It's definitely not worth the money for anyone looking to upgrade, unless of course you're like me and just waste money as you like the best stuff, however on a new purchase it's acceptable, even at 1080p (barely).

  • Is this better than xbox One S?

    • +1

One plays 4K games, one dooesn't. One plays 4k movies, the other doesn't. One is made by Sony the other is made by MS… Quite different machines, bit hard to compare really.

      • why cant each do both?

        • +5

that would make too much sense.

  • What to buy if you don't currently have a PS4

Slim PS4 can be had for maybe under $300 on sale or a $500 Pro?

    • if u got cash to burn and 4k tv get the Pro. Else get the povo ps4

    • Just my opinion - PS4 500GB if you can get it for $300 is the best value (nowhere at the moment?). But if you look at the current prices of the 1TB PS4, i think the Pro (since Pro has 1TB hdd - i know external hdd support is coming though) for $500 is decent value compared to what's currently available.

      • Just noticed the Slim doesn't have a optical audio out which is total crap as I use optical cable and not looking to upgrade to a new receiver to use HDMI
