My significant other is complaining that she doesn't have enough weekly spending money. This weekly spending money does not include bills/fuel/food/mortgage/car or anything like that, it's spare cash she can use for any purpose she wants. What do you think is a fair weekly amount?

work out total expenses
work out total put to savings(income - (expenses + savings)) / 2 = even split of fun money
Wife's share of fun money - 250 = how much you top up
No limit here, I make majority of the money from investment return and salary
she can go crazy, but that because I know she doesn't so we don't have a limit
we spend how much ever we want with a bit of control and discipline in place.I clear all the bill by their due date, wipe credit card clean each month.

My wife and I currently get $15 each per week. All essential expenses are covered in the budget, so our allowance is purely fun moneyou to spend as we want.
In this modern age, why is the other half not working, and relying on you for spending money?

He doesn't owe her any spending money. She should be working for it.
if she asked more, give her the groceries giftcard, and let her do the groceries for you… :)

Certainly, as a couple people have posted, you should go through what she actually spends it on to see what is reasonable, and then decide if she needs more.
You said you don't care what she spends it on, but you should if you are considering raising it from $250.I would say a reasonably comfortable level would be $100 for most people.
If I earned $100 per week this is how I would split it:
All overheads: $50
Savings: $20
Balance: $30
Split two ways, $15 each to do whatever we like!Mate. $100 p/w should be plenty.

all you need is a sense of responsibility and spend when its required and not just throw away money unless you have heaps…
