Simply download Canon's free iOS or Android Irista app and you automatically get 15GB cloud storage. Apply the coupons below one by one for additional storage totally free of charge. You need to sign up to an Irista account and verify your email address first. Been using the app all day, and love it so far. Enjoy :)

Did this earlier today at work thanks to UKHD… Was wondering if Ozbargain would pick it up… Now I shall wonder no more…

    • And first comment too?! Were you refreshing every two seconds to see when OZB would pick it up?!
You know what you could've done instead….

      • Indeed, and thought about it… But on this forum, it was much more fun to wait. I see Ozbargain as more of a people interaction game myself these days.

Point is, most people have, or know of more great bargains than they share… Myself included… So let's be nice, if we wanna know more bargains, which we do want to know, which is why we are here…

        Off topic:
Even thought of creating the user name Tighter Ass with the TA inverse logo, but with rope tied around it, pulled tight… But I didn't… Wonder how long it'll take to happen now it's been mentioned… twiddles thumbs

  • +16

How long does the storage last?

  • +6

Wondering if it's worth the hassle. When I first heard about it, the impression that I got from people who have used it wasn't very good. Right now, using Google photos unlimited with practically no barriers to using it, just set it and forget.

    • Who knows, what product Google will be killing next, or what will become of Photos in say 5 years or more. It's prudent to have another cloud as a backup (apart from originals on your own HDD ofc). At least I will consider my new 330Gb storage for that purpose. Tnx TA btw!

      • +6

Thats just ridiculous logic. The same can be said of the Canon Cloud as well as any other cloud services. In fact, there's probably a higher chance of the Canon cloud collapsing than it is with Google Photos/Cloud since well, Google Photos is installed almost by default these days in all Android phones.

        • +2

Well, your comment is 90% true. apart from the first bit about "ridiculous logic". And to show you my goodwill i will + your comment, even so that you downvoted my without a reason.
And here just a few of those Google projects mentioned in my first post. http://www.wordstream.com/articles/retired-google-projects

        • @abm77: Yes, but most of those projects failed to get any traction or significant user base. Google Photos is actually one of Google's biggest successes and one of their best apps. There's as much chance of them killing it as there is of them killing Google Maps.

        • @dontpanic: They're doing what to Google Maps? :D

        • @dontpanic: I sure hope they don't have such plans now, but in a long run anything is possible. I don't want to start a big discussion about it, but in my life I've seen a lot of things come and go that at different moments seemed to stay forever. I'm actually just saying that it's kind of rational to have a backup.

        • +1

@abm77: Well anything is possible, but it's highly unlikely Google would intentionally do anything that would make you lose your photos. To market Google Photos as a backup solution and then delete all your stuff would be suicide for them. It may get rolled into another product or rebadged or whatever, but I would be confident that your photos will be safe so long as Google exists.

I wouldn't be so certain about this Canon service.

        • @dontpanic: Canon is most certainly less reliable. I just don't like keeping all eggs in one basket. And yea… As long as Google exists, not mentioning they ever changing approach to the privacy and features, which at one time might be unacceptable for some.

  • +2

So like google photos but full res? Do they backup video? I've got more than240gb of photos/vids… having kids will do that

    • +2

Google photos is almost full res anyway. I think the free quality is up to 16mp photos which most phones don't shoot at.

      • They do compress your images though, so you will lose some quality. Which you may or may not notice.

  • sweet, it's been a while since the last cloud storage deal.

  • how does this compare to the normal Google photo app?
Google has unlimited data for photo and videos

    Someone in HUKD posted:

    • 50GB for the voucher code: IRISTADACH17

  • Thanks OP.

  • Thanks OP. Got 330GB. It's only photos. It would have been great if they allow videos also. Hopefully in the future.

  • Thanks OP, have 415GB now

    • how did you get 415 i onlygot 330

      • I believe I got some when I bought my camera, I guess as an incentive to use their platform.

  • +1

How is this deal better than flickr 🤔

    • Do Flickr allow full high res photos?

      • No

        • +2

          That's how then…

      • Yes. Free storage upto 1tb. You can try. It works for me. It uploads full res from my s7

  • Nice one… Hope to make good use of this. Thanks!

  • +4

T&C: "we now own your images"

    • Wow really?

    • That's me done here, then! Anyone need 330GB of advertising space? ;)

  • Lol

330GB of data to randomly disappear one day

  • +1

    (+50GB) IRISTATEAM
    (+50GB) IRISTARETAIL

    Expired

  • +1

This 2 not working for me
    (+50GB) IRISTATEAM
    (+50GB) IRISTARETAIL

  • I only ended up getting 230gb. 2 of the 50gb codes didn't work.

    Thanks nonetheless. Good deal.

  • Thanks OP! 230GB still great!

  • +1

    (+50GB) IRISTATEAM
    (+50GB) IRISTARETAIL
    These 2 don't work now.

I created 2 accounts, one was 330 (10 mins ago), now the other only got 230.
    Good deal. thanks OP

  • IRISTATEAM and IRISTARETAIL are expired

  • IRISTATEAM and IRISTARETAIL unavailable now.

  • Thanks

  • Cool, thanks.

Will check this out. Much more storage than any of my other cloud services. Looks promising.

  • +6

like with most cloud photo services

''Canon will only use your Materials for the purpose of providing you with the irista Services. To do this, you grant Canon and those we may work with a free, non-exclusive, worldwide, sub-licensable right to do everything necessary to provide the irista Services, including (without limitation) to use, publish, reproduce, host and store your Materials''

    • Yeah, that bit.

    • What, really? I can't believe they can do that, or that other services do the same… Hmmm.

      • Do you know which ones do that??

    • What, does that mean they can use my images for commercial purposes?

      • +1

Make money directly or from selling your images to agencies/third parties to do same.

    • That sux. Probably won't use this then. Have you looked into which ones take your photos and which don't? Google photos, flickr etc.

  • And there's a lightroom plugin! :)

    • how itworks

      • Haven't been able to authorise it yet… Will try again in the next day or so.

  • Videos are not supported :(
Not a total dealbreaker, but pretty disappointing.

  • Can anyone vouch for how well duplicate photo detection works? Google Photos not so much.

    • The service is in its newborn phase. So there's no duplicate photo detection and everything is very basic. And tbh I wouldn't expect this service to last.

      • +1

Actually the service dates back to 2013 when it was called project1709. They renamed it recently, but based on quick look I'm not sure they improved it into state that it can be used as a photo catalog service. But as a additional free backup solution it's probably not bad.

  • Google photos runs facial recognition for a global database right

  • It's cool how you can select photos via camera, focal length etc, like in lightroom.

  • Team, retail and dachi17 doesn't work :(

    But got 180. Thanks OP

    • +1

IRISTADACH17 worked fine for me just a few min back.

      • Hahaha I'm retarded. Spelt dach17 as dachi17.

        Thanks

  • Got excited when I mistakenly read it as icloud storage lol

  • +2

    We crashed there servers. Lol

    • +1

      LoL
      Ozbargained…

  • Rip canon webserver

  • Sorry, our website is currently experiencing some difficulties. Please try again later.
    Ouch, Canon!

  • Only IRISTADACH17 worked for me… seems they have caught on :(

  • Sorry for being so stupid, but where do you enter the voucher codes?

Is it in -> Irista app -> Hamburger menu -> Account -> Redeem Voucher ?

After 2 hours trying to get the app to sign me up and connect to the server, I am getting "Expired Code" for all of them :-(

Edit: IRISTADASH17 worked the third time I tried.

  • Found another code of 50GB: IRISTAXATAKA, worked for me ;)

  • Servers are back, but unfortunately only the codes IRISTADACH17 and IRISTAXATAKA work now :(

Edit: just the one code working now

  • +4

No codes work anymore it seems… signed up for no reason argh.

    • +4

Ahhhh the irony. Typically I would say you snooze you lose but in this case the winners of this deal are snoozing at this ungodly hour.

    • 15GB of free photo storage?

    • Of course I see that only after :/

      https://myid.canon/canonid/#/delete-account

  • +2

    All codes have been brodened

  • +1

No codes working for me either sadly.
Hopefully someone posts a new code

  • Argh, wasted 5 minutes signing up in vain, lucky I used disposable email.. Ok Canon, good on you, it's google for the rest of us, you lose…

  • All good. Would have taken decades to upload anyway, for us non-nbn folks

  • no codes work :(

  • +1

Seem to all be expired….none worked for me

  • Damn. missed out on this. :'(

  • I feel for Canon…. these codes have been hit HARD over the last 2 days!
UK, German, NZ, Australian, French, Italian, Pinoy and Dutch forums have been plastering and using these codes at an insane rate!

  • Thanks - will add this to my backup regime (Google Photos, OneDrive w bonus storage, Flickr, ext hd's) :-)

  • +6

A word of warning: I gained 230GB and this was reflected in both the app and web account however after uploading my first photo, I was revoked to 15GB! (14.99gb) Dirty trick. I'll keep this in mind when I replace my DSLR.

    • +1

Same thing happened to me. Back to 15gb after first photo upload. Gggggggggggg. (Just uninstalled…)

  • I uploaded almost 19GB of data and had roughly 209 left. Today the app shows storage full…

  • Son of a …!

They would only have lost when people uploaded > standard amount; which would only be a subset of people applying these coupons (although these people would possibly be more likely to do so).

Instead, people feel dudded and don't use at all.

Might provide them with some feedback :-)

  • Way to loose tons of potential customers - thats guna have worldwide backlash :P

  • +1

As stated above, all extra space has been removed and voided upon uploading photos. I emailed irista and got this reply:

"irista vouchers are for people who have bought genuine Canon products and been rewarded with a voucher. And they are for one use only. We are removing bonuses for customers we believe are misusing irista voucher codes however if you have been sent a voucher code for extra storage please forward the email to me and I would be happy to add the extra storage into your account if this is the case."

Which I suppose from some points of view is fair.

However, when you go to delete your account to stop access they have to your information, clicking the "delete your canon ID account" option, prompts them to send you an email "with instructions", however the email sent pertains to resetting your password, and not deleting your account, which i find incredible annoying.

    • I didn't have any issue deleting mine. Just signed in, go to my account and delete account. It just said sorry to see me go and may take awhile before all data is erased. But seems like the account is deleted.

  • +2

If you are having issues deleting the account, follow the link exa posted ( https://myid.canon/canonid/#/delete-account ) log-in and then re-visit that link again and it will take you to the account deletion page.

I got thw same email also. My last two expensive Canon compact cameras both had notable dust in lens problems and now this backflip has caused me to lose total confidence with Canon. They should have just admitted they stuffed up and at least offered a small extra.
