  • Very nice!

It's interesting to see this cards perfomance compares with AMD radeon 7870, a 5 year old card. This card was made in 2016??

      • I think you're thinking of the GTX 480. Its a pretty hot card right now.

        • I am indeed. Woops.

      http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1753?vs=1749

If you wanted benchmarks, here is the 7850 (bit weaker than a 7870) compared with the RX 480 4GB. You can compare these with a 7970 which was also from 2012. You're right about the RX 480 being made in 2016.

    • This card is 3x faster than 7870?
      2x faster than 7970?

      • Nah I highly doubt it. After checking the benchmark, your probably just looking at the first bench. Overall it's hardly gonna to be 50% faster. That's why I running my card from 2012, at 720 of course since day 1.

Not much is gonna to happen in four years in the PC world. No price shortcuts.

        • I went from a 7870 to 7970 and it was a huge difference.

        • @Major Mess:

384bit channel made all the difference. Plus you upgraded to a high-end model.

    • false information, this card is 3x better than that.

'bit of a boost from integrated graphics' i lol'd

    • Very reasonable question to get negged, considering sites like GPUBoss gives shit information on comparisons.

RX 480 is a much better video card for gaming, it's the best 1080p graphics card out there.

  • Some Help Please:
    This OR Asus STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5
Assuming both are at the same price.
    Cheers!

Go for the RX480, it's DX12 oriented and can serve future games better.

Plus an extra 0.5GB of usable VRAM.

  • Good deal. Would be nice if it had a backing plate.

  • does this come with free Doom game?

    • Pretty sure that was an MSI promotion, great price lowest I have seen so I grabbed it to pair with the MSI one for Xfire

Should do. This from their Facebook page says so.

      https://www.amdrewards.com/amdrewards/

    • yep comes with free copy of Doom.

  • I am tempted but what about the warranty?
I never buy any graphics card on Amazon before.

      Well.. you haven't lived yet.
Just being silly. Nah I couldn't do a video card, let alone the big TV's and Home Theater amps, people here on Ozbargain buy from Europe.

I don't believe Asus has international warranty (but please correct me if I'm wrong). Ended up grabbing a RX 480 4gb locally from umart for $269 (down from $289 using the recent $20 Amex cashback). Seems like a decent price and I don't need to stress if anything goes wrong.

  • Is this worth upgrading from GTX 970?

    • No

    • Why would u upgrade from a 970??

  • +1

    Thanks. I bought this.

Everyone please note the "usually dispatched within 2-4 weeks". Is that normal for a seller?

    • Yeah. It just means they're selling stock they've yet to receive or their supplier has not received. Good way to pay less, providing you're patient. For $50 saving though, hmmm, I think I can be patient.

  • No… I missed out :(

    • its only like an extra $10-15 now

      • +2

Can't get myself to buy it when it was cheaper just a few hours ago. lol

      • Dammit I swear do they more expensive cause this was posted…

  • Still $245 AUD. Good deal.

  • What does it mean by "dual"?

Shouldn't "dual" mean you'd be buying 2 graphics cards to run together?

    • dual fans

  • My card posted yesterday, but no doom game included I think.
