[PC] Steam+DRM Free (Some)-Humble Jumbo Bundle 8 (Valhalla Hills, Vermintide, Jotun etc)-$1.32/$8.01/$13.18 AUD - Humble Bundle

180

Three tiers.

Tier 1: $1 US

  • Valhalla Hills (Steam and DRM free)
  • Legends of Eisenwald (Steam and DRM free)
  • Journey Down Chapter 1+2 pack (Steam)

Tier 2: BTA is $6.08 US at time of posting:

  • Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide (Steam)
  • Jotun (Steam and DRM free)
  • Turmoil (Steam and DRM free)
  • more games to come next Tuesday

Tier 3: $10 US

  • Verdun (Steam)

In my opinion tier 1 is definitely worth it, for Journey Down pack alone. Tier 2 is worth is if you do not already have two of the three games and it might become more worthwhile next Tuesday when more games are added (probably 2 more).

  • Great discount - Valhalla Hills is currently $29.99USD (hah!) in the Steam Store. Thanks OP!

You are welcome. Enjoy the game.

  • Warhammer Vermintide looks interesting, people seem to love the co-op but it's unclear if the single-player is worth it… never heard of any of the rest!

If you look point and click games in Monkey Island style but just modern, give the Journey Down a try. Great game with great atmosphere.

Valhalla Hills is also nice and very enjoyable to play.

It's a L4D2 clone, would be as fun as that is solo I'd say.

  • Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide was in a recent Humble monthly bundle.
Jotun has been in a Humble Monthly bundle as well.
Journey Down (season 1 at least) has been bundled quite a few times previously.

    • True but for the price of half a Humble Monthly you can get both games you mentioned. Seems like a great deal to me if you were not in a rush to get those two games previously.

Also, Chapter 2 of Journey Down has not been bundled at all I believe, at least not by HB.

      • you cannot buy a previous Monthly Humble Bundle once it has had all games announced. So my post was more a PSA for people to check their inventories as they may already have had the majority of these games if they bought monthly bundles.

  • If anyone wants Journey Down Chapter 1+2 pack (Steam), let me know.

    Edit: Gone.

For Vermintide which is probably the most popular out of the bunch, I'd recommend it only if you enjoy L4D, it's definitely designed for more than one playthrough.

It's a 4 player multiplayer co-op with a choice between 5 characters (with different strengths/mechanics due to weapons) and pretty much a Left 4 Dead clone with a melee focus, try not to play with AI, they are usually dumb as bricks. There are 13 missions in the base game's campaign and a couple more from each DLC - do note that only 1 player needs to host the DLC for others without them to play.

Hosting is p2p unfortunately - but I have not had issues in the games I've played so far (some quirks i've read with the hosting is that if the host computer is crappy, rat AI also become dumber).

Start it up at the easiest/normal difficulty when playing through, or hit up the beginners guide on the wiki as there's plenty of mechanics which are obscure

There's crafting/upgrading and a bounty board (you need to complete the vanilla campaign for the bounty board). At the end of a map/mission there's a dice roll and you get a random drop (higher difficulties = better weapon rarity). There's plenty more weapon variety that can be had from drops. Few are exclusive to DLC campaigns. Don't expect to get higher tier weapons from drops any time soon either (but it can be very quick through bounty board challenges actually) - as the Dice Roll can be quite unforgiving and you need to bring tomes and grimoires around with you to improve the dice roll and weapon rarity - this is pretty easily accomplished at lower difficulties though.

There's a lot of depth in the melee due to different swing patterns, cancelling swing patterns with right click, mechanics such as target caps on weapons, and at higher difficulties shield+axe or shield+mace combos (dwarf and empire soldier) are preferred to wall off rat swarms. Also weapon traits, hugely important in harder difficulties as some have the chance to restore HP and some combinations aren't available with certain rarities either.

Hit up the vermintide subreddit for indepth guides discussion surrounding mechanics or guides via steam community.

  • For anyone who can't find a review on 'Legends of Eisenheim', note that the post should say 'Legends of Eisenwald'.

    • Thanks for finding that. Edited.

  • If anyone has a spare Vermintide or Verdun key, let me know. I have a whole bunch of spare keys from previous humble bundles to trade!
