Anybody Bought from Careyou.com.au ? Because It Seems Too Good to Be True

Hi, (long time lurker first time poster)

Anybody bought from www.careyou.com.au. Prices seem so incredible, especially for wedding stuff.

I've been taught that if something is too good to be true, then it probably is.

Some reviews on the internet, but not too much, and I trust ozbargainers more.

Cheers

  • they seem to be legit.

direct importer so no further middle men.

also (I believe) known as Huanyu Australia Pty Ltd t/as SJS Homewares

  • I'm not sure exactly what you were looking at that seemed too good to be true. I had a look at some wedding stuff and it didn't seem particularly cheap… i.e. $36 cupcake stand

  • Legit address etc

Interesting that they've had the "careyou.com.au" since May 2013, but doesn't look like the site has been around since then

And you can see here when their site went up for lease. Given that's still the company name, I guess they renewed the lease lol

  • Reporting back - Took the chance on a $250 order. No problems. Would use again.

First post was Thursday asking… "Anybody bought from www.careyou.com.au?"
…and here it is only Sunday, three days later.
Now that is either exceptionally fast service, or very suspiciously like sockpuppeting.

I was just about to write the same thing. Sock puppet for sure.
It's also how crooked sites advertise " is this a scam". Gets their link out.

Dude you got greedy promoting your own company, smart way would have been to wait a couple of weeks before bumping your own thread

      • Exactly.

Or even posting a real deal.
But what I see is similar prices to everyone else so no deal exists.

  • I was looking to buy a drum stool and careyou.com.au was offering one for a very attractive price. I haven't had any prior experience with the seller, so I googled for reviews and ended up in this thread.

Decided to take a chance and go ahead with the purchase as it wasn't very expensive, and I was going to use Paypal anyway. Ordered on Saturday, product arrived today (Tuesday). Not the greatest in terms of quality, but for the price I'm totally happy with the purchase.

So @DavoX, I sure did get an exceptionally fast service :)

  • I was wondering the same thing as I wanted to buy some things on the site for my wedding. So I called the place and they said I can come by the warehouse to look at their stock and buy directly.. So I would say it's safe tbh

    • Hey so, update: I went to the place and bought some stuff. It's a legit place, big warehouse full of stock they ship in from china and the guy is honestly very nice. They used to trade as SJS, which is on the front of the building. I bought the mr and mrs sign, umbrellas, greenery vines and carpet isle runner and lanters which I inspected and are in great condition.
Just thought I'd put anyone's mind at ease- I'm pretty happy with my purchases there :D

      • Can confirm its legitness. I buy my tissues from there. 75c a box in bulk.

  • Despite the apparent sock-puppeting, these seem to be the only people to have what I want. I found this not so encouraging post looking for reviews.

They've been on eBay for 10 years with excellent feedback: https://feedback.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&…, 4,000 sales and 4 negatives in the past year, the negs appear to have been handled. So that's a plus.

Website shows the ABN, and seems to be valid: https://abr.business.gov.au/SearchByAbnHistory.aspx?abn=5912… and looks like they decided to keep the company going (not deregistered), they didn't update the careyou.com.au business name though, might cause a bit of stress when the domain needs renewing.

So I placed an order last night (Sunday), got a dispatch notice this morning. Tracking is showing as invalid, but I figure it either hasn't been picked up yet, or Auspost just being their usual selves.

Parcel ETA is Friday (Melb to Syd); we'll see what happens.

    • Progress, AusPost tracking now works. Hasn't been picked up yet, just logged into their system.

    • Okey dokie, parcel turned up.

Ordered on the 10th (Sunday), CareYou shipped on the 11th (Monday), got to Chullora Sydney on Wednesday morning (13th).

It then sat there for a week.

Picked it up today (21st), about a week late. Thanks AusPost!

Item is fine, well packed etc, no complaints against CareYou. Any problems as noted in this thread seem to be from incompetence, not malice.

Speaking of incompetence, Auspost is prioritising small parcels over larger ones, I had another large parcel sit in the mail centre for over a week while an envelope-sized one was sent from Qld on the weekend and arrived on Tuesday.

That's one way to get the KPI's up - "Oh yes, we delivered xx% of parcels on time…". Just for Xmas perhaps?

  • Thought I would post as this is basically the only thread I could fine online.
I bought a Jenga from them on Friday and received it today (I think quick shipping was more to Australia Post extra hours over Christmas)
It is a present so haven't opened the box but the outside all looks good.
I was hesitant buying from them due to this thread but the price was about half the price of others I could find. I figured I would pay by credit card and do a charge back if their was a problem. Luckily it was.all good.

  • Careyou.com.au does look like a scam website, however I took a chance and I did receive genuine Jamie Oliver cookware. Appears to be owned and operated by Chinese, which is really no different to buying from Kmart online.

Thanks for signing up to bump a 4 year old thread just to tell us that.

  • So I feel obliged to post here as I also found this page when trying to determine if careyou.com.au was a scam or not (and so figure others in future might also) - I put an item in my cart and went through the checkout process to the point necessary to determine the postage cost (filling in my name, address, email) - the postage cost was too high so I deleted all of my information from the form before closing the page, however it's obviously been recorded, as I've received two separate 'you left an item in your cart'/'did you forget to check out' emails (I unsubscribed to the first but still received the second a day later). I've written to request deletion from their database but received no response.

However also, most coincidentally, since I visited the careyou site I've received five identical spam emails from five different senders, in a format which I've never had before, all with the same 'Norton' receipt attached. So while I can't comment on the legitimacy of the website itself with regards to sending items purchased, it certainly seems less than legit with regards to what it's doing with your personal information. I know I should have used fake information to check the postage in the first instance and would usually have done so, however I was distracted at the time, and fully intended to buy the item, so I didn't and now my real details seem to have been distributed. So while that slip of vigilance is on me, it's still a big 'buyer beware' for this website. I personally wouldn't risk it.

    • The sockpuppets in this thread aren’t going to be happy with you 😂
