Make sure you are in the right amazon store for your account. The go to deal link is to the US store. Go to the au link otherwise.

Think I like about reading these is how the past is another country. The brothers Grimm, and their audience, thought, and had values quite different to us moderns.

  • Not necessarily suitable for young children!

I read them all when I was about 10 or 12 and you probably don't want to give it to children much earlier than this. This isn't to be confused with the Disney versions, these were told to be at least a little bit scary.

    • Not sure if it's in this collection, but one of the traditional versions of Sleeping Beauty had her being raped by the prince

        Sounds pretty Grimm..

      • Yeah there's all sorts of things like that on the traditional Grimm "fairy tales". They were originally written basically to give realistic (and deliberately scary) examples of what can happen "to children who aren't careful".

Nice, I've got a hardcopy of the same thing from the 70's. :)

  • Are these the actual original stories, like the ones that aren't really suitable for children at all?

  • AU Amazon store link (hopefully)
