Intel says this CPU supports up to 2GB only: http://ark.intel.com/products/93361/Intel-Atom-x5-Z8350-Proc… ?

    • Hehhe no idea, only going by their ad

    • +1

Yep, seems a typo/mistake in the advertising - though a pretty bad one to make. Thanks for pointing it out.

      • +1

Yep very heheh (have updated just incase )

    • That's only what intel officially supports. Just like high frequency ram isn't officially supported but it still runs.

    • +5

Its possible actually, some Atom devices such as the Onda V919 Air tablet has the X5 processor and 4GB of RAM

      https://liliputing.com/2015/11/intels-cheapest-atom-x5-chip-…

Intel official says 2GB but manufacturers must have somehow tried 4GB and it worked, and Intel hasn't bothered to update the specs.

Screen resolution? 1920x1080 is the lowest I can accept. 2560x1440 is ideal.

    • No idea, nothing mentioned in the ad, i doubt for $249 you will get 2560 x 1440

      • +1

        a retina singe-ing 1,366 x 768

How does this laptop fare compared to these?

    • You can literally buy 10 of these for one of those hehehe

      • +10

Have you been sucking on the laughing gas tonight?

      • Yeah but buying 10 under performing devices doesn't really help you out does it :) That said, its cheap as can be, and comes with a 60 day satisfaction guarantee return. So really if the thing frustrates you, you have 60 days to return it so you can't really go wrong.

The Aldi one runs Windows, so approx. one million times better than those

      • -1

        That's what I was thinking :)

      This laptop has better windows.

UniSurf website lists the device with 2GB RAM and 32GB Storage

    http://unisurf.com.au/unisurf-19-Notebook.html

then again heres a link with similar CPU with 4GB ram

    14'1 Inch

14foot1inch Notebook! Don't think it will fit in my door, let alone sit on my lap😯

    • Don't be silly. It obviously has a built-in LED projector for presentations.

      • Oh, missed that in the very short list of features😀

  • +1

Hopefully its 4gb of ram, not bad for that price, 60 day satisfaction guarantee ,local warranty and gst claim back :)

    • +1

if its 4GB ram 14in including a descent screen (contrast / brightness / viewing angles) it may be a really good buy

Unless its over 300 I don't think you can claim back TSR - GST

      • Yep correct , i guess it's more for ppl that have a business

      • +2

Add something else you will be taking out of country with you.

    • Not 4GB RAM according to Unisurf in above comment - can download manual.

      • The manual is more a quick start guide on using the Laptop & Windows 10 rather than listing the device specifications

        • Thanks. Didn't check.
Have a ~$45 8" Unisurf Win8.1 tablet & docs were very basic - like the quality of build.

    • +1

The Dell Inspiron 11 3000 is probably the better buy if you don't mind the smaller screen. And you can claim back the GST.

  • The CHUWI Hi10 Pro 2 is a better buy…

  • Wonder how much storage is actually available after Win 10 install ?
    10-15 GB ?

    • Windows from my experience takes up 14.5 GB of space on the latest build of Windows. This is on my Bay-trail Pendo Pad

However it can also depend on how much virtual memory is allocated and how big the hibernation file is.

      • Did you get one of their newer 10" flip touch convertibles that I saw being sold at Australia post now? If so, how does it perform?

        • Found out from earlier post. You did a great review on that one back then. How is that machine still going now?

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/228038

        • @ozhunter68:

Still works fine. I noted the bottom gets very hot while charging when switched on. Will cook your testicles so recommend using a cooling pad.

Also charges rather slowly, almost 3 to 4 hours. Battery still lasts 6 hours with constant wifi usage and video playback.

Weird glitch with charging sometimes, it doesnt immediately start charging until 10 or so minutes when you plug it in. Have to check the charging Led and battery level before I leave home just to make sure it has indeed charged over night.

Contacted Pendo and asked for a new charger but looks like it's a problem with the unit itself.

The only thing I like about the Pendo I suppose is the full Hd IPS display and the 360 degree touchscreen, but everything else about it is mediocre or poor.

        • @scrimshaw:

Thanks for the review, was not expecting an answer after this long lol.

You think worth up to $200 good condition second hand, or don't bother and move on?

        • @ozhunter68:

don't bother. Plenty of nice laptops you could buy for $300 ish.

Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series for $319 e.g regularly pops on Ozbargain.

        • @scrimshaw:

Got one a few months back, nice little machine. I do like light larger convertible laptops, especially with touchscreen, full HD and long battery life with decent performance for travelling. Might pass on the Dell to a friend who wants it if I can replace with something better suited for me. I sold my HP Slatebook 14" Android Full HD Touchscreen ( I got one for the crazy price of $279 new delivered from HP before it was posted here as info from fellow OZB for a returned favour ) to a friend and now wished I did not. Haha

No hurry as I have way too many laptops and smartphones anyway, always like new toys though to play with.

  • Hey Guys , How do you think this will perform on a 4k 65" TV if you want to use the HDMI output to your TV ?

  • Box says 4giga, just got one, but a part turning it on I didn't check if the specs match. It's not bad at all for the price.

    • Does it have an ethernet/network port? If it does is it 100/1000?

      • No, only a hdmi and usb

    • Can you please confirm 4GB installed in system? Still happy with it for $$$ ?????

      • +1

Didn't check yet, only tried it was turning on. Will be back home tomorrow and will confirm. Grabbed it just before a trip so didn't have time to try much of it.

      • +1

        4giga, win 10 64
        Confirmed .

  • I wonder if you can add a ssd to this like you could on the Lenovo 100s

    • Good point would like to know, 32 is really tight.

      • What are your thoughts so far on speed of unit booting up and opening programs and tabs?

Possible to give your opinion before I decide. I know it"s only a low price unit, but still hoping for reasonable speed and mousepad/keyboard etc.

Has it only got usb and no usb3? At least it has 2 x full size usb ports and micro SD slot.

  • For anyone Interested.
I have purchased and used this for a week.
    I will be returning it.
It cannot be upgraded like the 100s and for this reason i am returning it.

For a very basic pc it will do the job but for me it is not quite there. I will
    be purchasing a 100s.

Boot time ect is fairly quick but it is quite sluggish even web browsing.
The wireless card is a POS my 100/40 nbn gets maybe half with ping between 50 and 100.
not that important on a small laptop but just shows quality of parts
