Their shipping rates have always been horrible…

  • +3

    delivery is bullshit.

    • +5

Just pick up for free if you can or get EB Games to price match

    • $5.95 for one game to my postcode.

      Seems pretty reasonable to me.

      • I send games that I sell for ebay for $3 per game.

        • What packaging do you use?

        • +3

@TheOneWhoKnocks: Packaging? Stick thr address on the case.

        • With no tracking, so you are boned if anyone makes a paypal claim. It would be ridiculous for HN to assume that much risk posting.

        • @TheOneWhoKnocks: Just the game sized padded packages. About $1.40 each and then 2 $1 stamps to send it.

Sunset Overdrive is a must own.

    • Thanks for the recommendation! Bought one. :)

      Found Larry Hyrb's ozbargain account

    • +1

Agreed, one of the most straight up FUN games i have played in the past several years, got a good 40+ hours of it too, and that was just single player.

    • Yep. Bright, colorful, fun, awesome movement and weapons.
      Just enjoyable to play.

    • It was on GWG a few months ago, didn't everyone pick it up then?
Personally I wasn't too bothered with it.

  • Assassin's Creed Syndicate is part of the "2 for $40" deal from JB Hi-Fi.

  • +6

I was going to post this, but their in-store stock is limited and shipping is hard to comprehend (not saying it shouldn't have been posted).

What HN doing with shipping is shady - rates vary hugely for different games.

Postage for Bloodborne is $14.95 to metro Brisbane. On Wednesday it was $16.95 postage. Postage for Rise of the Tomb Raider is $5.95. Same size, weight, presumably sent from the same warehouse, so why not the same cost?

They were doing the same thing a few months ago with iPod shuffles. Some colours were on sale, but the postage was three of four times more than the ones that weren't on sale.

    • +2

presumably sent from the same warehouse

That's probably something you shouldn't presume, as it will most likely be the determining factor of their postage pricing.

      • +3

Really? Determining factor? $7.60 for Australia Post to send a game from Perth to Brisbane (I used Perth because it's the furthest possible distance without leaving the country). Explain the discrepancy.

Name one other Australian business that charges anywhere between $5.95 and $14.95 postage for a game, and I'll stop making presumptions.

Ozgameshop charges $1.99 postage from the other side of the world.

        • -4

          Explain the discrepancy.

Postage pricing does not only include what Australia Post charges, it also includes handling/packaging.

Name one other Australian business that charges anywhere between $5.95 and $14.95 postage for a game, and I'll stop making presumptions.

Most businesses like HN have variable postage pricing as they aren't a one-stop game shop like Ozgameshop, they sell many other things and at the end of the day they are trying to make a profit.

        • +5

          @cdestratis:

…they sell many other things and at the end of the day they are trying to make a profit.

But that is the point aja12 is making about HN being shady. They are implying that the product is on sale, but then hiding the profit in the shipping cost. Furthermore, if you want a full refund, you don't get the shipping cost back!

I probably should have worded that better, they are a business at the end of the day and they can't lose money, so they must charge what they need to break even.

I highly doubt they are doing it to screw people over and make a profit.

Oh they're trying to make a profit all right. Here's some postage costs for games from other stores that aren't "one-stop game shops". All flat rates.

          Big W - $4.95
          Target - $9.00 (expensive)
          JB-HiFi - $1.69

I don't know how or why you're defending $14.95 postage cost for a single game.

        • -2

          @aja12:

Right, well please continue to sit there with your tin-foil hat, silently cussing the retail conglomerates that are trying to take advantage of hard working Australians.

I don't know how or why you're defending $14.95 postage cost for a single game.

I'm not defending anything, if I don't want to pay a certain price, I simply shop elsewhere, but I certainly don't think the pricing is that way purely to make money.

        • @cdestratis:

Right, well please continue to sit there with your tin-foil hat, silently cussing the retail conglomerates that are trying to take advantage of hard working Australians.

OK, you've resorted to sarcasm and insults, so I'll just leave it at that.

        • @aja12:

Don't be insulted, that's not what I'm trying to do, but that's just how you're coming off with what you've claimed/presumed in this thread.

        • @cdestratis: I'm not insulted, it's just obvious that you don't have any valid points to make.

        • +1

@cdestratis: You didn't make one valid point.

        • @aja12:

Or perhaps you just don't agree with them? Which is okay by the way.

      • Im thinking they match with the nearest store available for stock hence different shipping fees?

  • I can't upvote this because you didnt set the link to sort by lowest price first :P

  • +1

Thanks. Grabbed Dishonored 2 for PS4.

  • +1

Great price on Dishonored 2, especially so if you can pick it up locally.

  • +1

    +1 just for dishonored alone

  • +2

My local (campbelltown) has 8 games in total. Not 8 copies of dishonored 2, just 8 xb1 games.

  • going to pick up sunset and dishonored 2, thanks.

  • Rainbow Six: Siege for $38 on PS4 seems like a good price?

    • No, it's part of JB's 2 for $40 deal.

  • Thanks OP. Bought Dishonored 2 going on other comments. Do you need to play Dishonored 1 first?

    • +1

Nope, only a few references to the original. But if you see the original on sale, buy it. Great games both of them

  • +2

Is there gonna be a DLC for dishourned 2?

    • I dont think it sold that well so maybe not

  • HMMM, Dishonored for 23 is a bargain but was hoping to get for PC.

Also feel I could wait a little while and get The Nathan Drake collection cheaper.

  • Those games aren't badly price but last time I ordered (years ago now) it was a headache with stock. Lots of people got orders canceled or part orders and not the rest. I do remember mine taking ages because the store they were using simply had super limited stock.

And I know now that our HN stores don't really carry any games or if they do they're slim pickings.

  • Are the prices the same in store if you haven't ordered online?

  • Except for Dishonored 2 and possibly Bloodborne, those ps4 game "clearance" prices are terrible.

  • Check Mighty Ape prices https://www.mightyape.com.au/games/xbox-one/all?sort=4&q=&pa… ie for xbox one and postage was only $4.95 if you can wait for delivery rather than store pick up.

    https://www.mightyape.com.au/product/nba-2k14-xbox-one/21489… NBA 2K14 $7.00

    https://www.mightyape.com.au/product/fifa-15-xbox-one/226118… FIFA15 $9.00

  • Thanks Op made an impulse purchase PS4 mad Max heard it's good. Fingers crossed.

    • Its really good.

    • what was the rrp at eb games? Might do this for mass effect.

  • is $69 the best price for Horizon Zero Dawn at the moment ?

    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/games-gaming-consoles/games/p…

$85 when I scanned in Big W yesterday and 479 at JB I think

  • Thanks got Dishonored 2.

  • Forza Horizon 3 - Xbox One - $64.95 Delivered Sydney

  • Price matched at jbhifi for dishonoured 2 xbone. Thanks op!

    • Which one? My local wouldn't.

      • Sorry to hear and the late reply. Hmm i bought from essendon jbhifi. (The one at dfo essendon), cheers!

All i did was showed them the deal from HN from my phone and they said okay we'll do it. 👍

  • Is this the cheapest Overwatch at the moment at $68?

  • Sunset Overdrive was sold out at my local Harvey Norman. JB Hi-Fi Altona would not price match but EB Games Altona did.

  • Happened to have to go out Werribee way and found a copy at a Harvey Norman there. Bonus was that it was on clearance further for $20 :p
